Father James Burtchaell, a well-known Roman Catholic theologian and spokesman for the anti-abortion movement, has agreed to resign from teaching at the University of Notre Dame amid allegations of sexual involvement with male students he was counseling. Burtchaell, 57, is a former provost at Notre Dame and a former chairman of the university's theology department.

Reginald Muldrew, the Southland's infamous "pillowcase rapist," was charged in Gary, Ind., on Monday with six felonies, including a count of "criminal deviate conduct" for allegedly fondling a woman after breaking into her home. Now under constant guard, Muldrew remained hospitalized in serious condition after being severely beaten two weeks ago by two teenagers who chased him after he fled the home of another woman whom he had tried to rob, police said.

The woman accusing boxer Mike Tyson of sexually assaulting her in a Chicago nightclub is not out for publicity, one of her lawyers said Tuesday. LaDonna August kept her head bowed as she entered Gary's Genesis Convention Center, flanked by four attorneys. She remained seated and didn't speak at the 30-minute news conference. Her attorneys said August's appearance was her way of going public with her accusations.
