Police said Thursday that they believe the two men who abducted and raped a 17-year-old Japanese exchange student in Oxnard earlier this week also tried to snatch a woman off a Moorpark street last week. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department and the Oxnard Police Department are joining forces and expanding the search for the men countywide.

Rape suspect Andrew Stuart Luster was held on $10-million bail Wednesday after prosecutors filed 19 new charges and told a judge they have evidence the wealthy scion of cosmetics magnate Max Factor has left victims around the globe. Luster, a 36-year-old Mussel Shoals resident, now faces 40 criminal charges in connection with three alleged rapes in which authorities say the victims were sedated with a date-rape drug and videotaped.

After months of delay, the great-grandson of cosmetics king Max Factor is scheduled to appear in court today to hear evidence prosecutors say proves he is a rapist who used a date rape drug to render his victims unconscious before videotaping his attacks. Andrew Stuart Luster, 37, is charged with 88 counts of rape, sodomy, oral copulation, poisoning and sexual battery; 38 of those counts were recently added.

The Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering rewards of up to $1,000 for information that would help solve crimes in Oxnard and Thousand Oaks. In Thousand Oaks, police are searching for a man who on March 10 sexually assaulted a woman as she watered flowers in the back yard of her Hollyburne Lane home. The man, described as about 38 years old, fondled the woman and showed her the grips of a gun that was in his pants waistband.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department plans to investigate complaints of sexual battery filed by female students at Newbury Park High School against three male students, a detective said Wednesday. The investigation will center on allegations of misdemeanor sexual battery, which is generally described as the grabbing or touching of private body parts, Detective Debbie DeMattia said. A 20-page report has been compiled from complaints by an undisclosed number of girls, DeMattia said.

Ventura High football Coach Harvey Kochel was charged Friday by the Ventura County district attorney's office with seven felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. Kochel, 48, allegedly had a nine-month sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student from Ventura High. The student was 15 when the misconduct first occurred Jan. 1, 1992, according to the district attorney's office. Each of the seven counts involves the student, whose identity has not been disclosed.

The Ventura County district attorney's office said Tuesday that it will not retry a former Westlake pediatrician on three sexual-battery charges involving a Calabasas woman. Deputy Dist. Atty. William G. Karr said a retrial of Stuart M. Berlin is unnecessary in light of Berlin's conviction last week on three other misdemeanor sexual-battery charges.

Not only is he cross-examining them, but as defense counsel he has access to their phone numbers and addresses. One victim said Monday that she was frightened because when the alleged crime occurred, he threatened to track her down and molest her again.

A 23-year-old Simi Valley man was sentenced to 70 years in state prison Thursday for sexually assaulting a Simi Valley woman he met in a bar. Barry Allan Bausman showed no emotion as Judge Charles W. Campbell Jr. imposed consecutive sentences after Bausman's conviction last month on 11 separate charges in Ventura County Superior Court.

A Westlake pediatrician has been arrested on suspicion of sexual battery for allegedly fondling three women during medical examinations in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Dr. Stuart M. Berlin, 35, was arrested Tuesday morning on one count of sexually battering a 27-year-old Calabasas woman, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Denise Jezak.
