Felony assault and battery charges were filed Wednesday against a Los Angeles Raiders fan who allegedly attacked and seriously injured a cheering Pittsburgh Steelers fan during a game between the two teams at the Coliseum last month. Shane C. Geringer, 19, of Agoura Hills is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on one count each of assault with a deadly weapon and battery with serious bodily injury. Each charge carries a maximum four-year prison term upon conviction.

A Pittsburgh Steelers fan was felled "like a tree" when he was struck by a Los Angeles Raiders fan during a game between the two teams at the Coliseum two months ago, a witness testified Monday. An Agoura Hills man accused of beating a Pittsburgh Steelers fan at a Raiders' game has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies said Wednesday. Shane C. Geringer, 20, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Saturday by deputies who saw him driving erratically on Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas, Deputy Susan Cross said. "They observed him come to a stop for a red light and all of a sudden he just drove through it," Cross said.
