I found it ironic that we were being inundated with Oscar rhetoric about honoring women in film. There were speeches, film clips, even an overblown number supposedly proving how far we women have come in Hollywood. I kept my TV tuned to ABC and witnessed Sharon Stone concerning her infamous scene in a revealing skirt sans underwear. When she explained how the director had deceived her to get that shot, I was outraged. Stone was sexually assaulted with a camera. When the film is shown, she is violated again.

Sharon Stone is taking on two very different roles — one in a Linda Lovelace biopic, and another on the Web to welcome returning troops. The 53-year-old actress says she will play Lovelace's mother in "Lovelace. " But before filming starts, the "Basic Instinct" star has another mission: She's taking her first steps into the world of social media with a Facebook page that welcomes returning military personnel home from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Stone says her We Welcome Home Our Troops page will serve as a community bulletin board where people can thank the troops for their service as well as offer them jobs, discounts, a helping hand and a warm welcome.

'SVU' nabs Sharon Stone "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" has landed a high-profile guest star to spice up its 11th season. Sharon Stone is joining the NBC drama for four episodes, playing a prosecutor who used to be a police officer, the network announced Tuesday. Stone has not yet begun shooting the episodes, which will air later this season. "It is obviously a thrill and a delight to have a star of Sharon's wattage and importance joining 'SVU,' " executive producer Dick Wolf said in a statement.

In a move experts called exceedingly rare, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge agreed to shield every aspect of the case -- including its very existence -- from public view last year at the request of lawyers for the actress and her courtroom adversary.

The lawsuit cites articles in Us Weekly and In Touch magazines that raise the question of whether Stone had a face-lift and suggest it was done by plastic surgeon Renato Calabria. The "Basic Instinct" star maintains that such allegations damaged her reputation and hurt her ability to find work.

In a statement attached to the newly opened file, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis said a series of missteps, each committed "inadvertently," led to the concealment of every part of the case -- including its very existence.

James Franco has yet another new undertaking: employee of "The Colbert Report. " The actor appeared on the Comedy Central program Tuesday and said he wanted to work for host Stephen Colbert. One of Franco's many interests is performance art, and he said he considers Colbert — who plays the role of the conservative host of the satire news commentary show — a great contemporary artist. President Obama's inaugural committee raised at least $53 million from donors for his swearing-in festivities. That's about $11 million more than President George W. Bush raised for each of his two Inauguration Days. Obama's inaugural committee filed a report with the Federal Election Commission listing donors who gave $200 or more. Obama had already voluntarily disclosed his biggest donors on the inaugural committee's website. The committee accepted donations of up to $50,000 from individuals.

Hearst Newspapers promoted Phil Bronstein, editor of its San Francisco Chronicle, to editor at large, giving him a bigger role at the newspaper chain. Bronstein will take on strategic responsibility for the Chronicle and for its closely held owner, Hearst Corp., the New York-based company said. A successor will be named shortly, the company said. Bronstein, 57, said he needed a change after spending 17 years as an editor, first at the Hearst-owned San Francisco Examiner and then at the Chronicle after Hearst bought that paper in a deal completed in 2000.
