The new city of Shasta Lake selected a mayor and went into business Friday, about a month after voters decided to incorporate four small Shasta County communities. The City Council, meeting for the first time, selected Larry Farr as mayor. Farr is a former member of the governing board of the public utility district that served the area. The district was dissolved and incorporated into the city.
