Delightedly - or maybe dutifully - a number of Times letter writers answered (a) (b) (c) and (d) in response to Haskell Flender's piece on the SAT. " "I'm OK with getting knocked down," the 57-year-old Edwards said, adding that she planned to make this job, which she started this month, her last. "But I can consistently get back up. " Edwards is taking the reins of the DWP - an agency that has long frustrated City Hall leaders and the ratepayers they represent - as it reels from the troubled rollout of a new billing system and faces nagging questions about how two nonprofit trusts spent $40 million in public money.

This is written to commend Zev Yaroslavsky's position on his moratorium on building permits in Sherman Oaks. I have been a resident homeowner in Sherman Oaks for 29 years. It is an ideal place to live and bring up children. It has excellent schools, shopping areas, religious institutions, etc. It is about time that we paid attention to the fine spirit of Mr. Yaroslavsky's moratorium. We must preserve our excellent homes and the many fine amenities that come with owning a home.
