Reportedly in Talks With Canadian Firm: The computer company, majority-owned by the family of Texas billionaire Ross Perot, is discussing a merger with SHL Systemhouse Inc., the Ottawa-based computer services firm, the Dallas Morning News said. A Perot Systems spokesman declined to comment.

The City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to amend the contract of Systemhouse Limited, which was initially hired for a 30-month, $12.6-million overhaul of the communications system in 1988. The tab has ballooned to $21.

MCI to Buy SHL Systemhouse for $1 Billion: Washington-based MCI Communications Corp., the nation's second-largest long-distance company, said it will pay $13 for each share of Canada-based SHL Systemhouse Inc. In bidding for a piece of the information technology market, analysts said, MCI will expand into another niche of information processing.
