The shotgun slaying of Willie Holyfield, brother of heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield, was accidental, family members testified Thursday. Holyfield, 35, was killed March 18, apparently after an argument at his house in Atlanta. The victim's brother-in-law, Michael Lucas, 35, who is charged with murder in the case, appeared Thursday in Atlanta Municipal Court.

A hunter who killed a 14-year-old boy he mistook for a deer has been charged with a felony under a new Georgia law aimed at tightening restrictions on hunters. Felton Johnson, 55, turned himself in Thursday and was booked for the slaying of Gavin Gingerich, a neighbor, in woods behind their homes Wednesday. Johnson, a retired Fulton County firefighter, was charged with misuse of a firearm while hunting.
