A new weekday shuttle service is running in the city between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The service, VanGo, covers an area bounded on the north by the Brea Mall, the city limits on the west, the Orange Freeway on the east and Craig Regional Park on the south. For $1, the vans will pick up and drop off riders anywhere in that area, officials said. To arrange a ride, customers may call (888) 97VanGO toll-free one hour before they wish to be picked up.

A commuter air service will begin flights out of Oxnard Airport this month, despite the failure of at least four similar efforts in the past 10 years. The California Air Shuttle will provide direct service from Oxnard to San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento and Las Vegas. It adds to the offerings of American Eagle, which flies to Los Angeles International Airport, and United Express, which services Los Angeles International and San Francisco.

The city of Irvine will begin negotiating with Los Angeles International Airport and Ontario Airport officials to open a satellite airline terminal at the Irvine Transportation Center, a facility the city hopes will eliminate the need for a new airport at the closed El Toro Marine base. Area residents would be able to purchase airline tickets and check their luggage at the terminal and then board shuttles that would take them to LAX or Ontario, John Wayne or Long Beach airport.
