Between Beyonce's show-stopping halftime performance at Super Bowl XLVII and “Downton Abbey,” Sunday night was all about the ladies - single or otherwise. As I noted last week, the female characters have taken center stage this season on “Downton Abbey” in a way that's somewhat surprising, with scorned bride Edith now a budding feminist, Isobel an unapologetic advocate for “fallen women,” and Daisy poised to become a trailblazing lady farmer. At the same time, two of the most prominent men of the manor, Carson and Lord Grantham, are turning into living anachronisms before our very eyes.

"Single Ladies," the romantic comedy series about three female best friends working in the fashion, music and celebrity world that was just canceled by VH1 after three seasons, is coming back. Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment company, which produces "Single Ladies," is developing an all-new fourth season as part of a new exclusive programming partnership with BET Networks' Centric, which is being positioned as the first network aimed at black females. Under the deal, Flavor Unit, which is owned by Latifah and her partner Shakim Compere, will produce new shows in addition to "Single Ladies" for the network.

Beyonce shut it down during the Super Bowl halftime show  - literally. Only a few minutes after the pop superstar's electrifying performance, which included a Destiny's Child reunion, dazzling visual effects and light displays, and a medley of solo hits such as “Single Ladies” and “Crazy in Love,” about half of the lights at the 73,000-seat Superdome suddenly went out. New Orleans is nothing if not a city used to running on generators, and...

Though official word on Beyoncé's hire for the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show isn't expected until Wednesday, we have a really good source who says it's definitely a go: Beyoncé. The singer posted a photo (above) to her Tumblr blog where she sports eye black, a grease that reduces glare for athletes playing in sun or stadium light. Written on the two panels is the date of Super Bowl XLVII -- Feb. 3, 2013.  She's also puckered up, glossed in red and presumably giving sports fans a big ol' wet one. VIDEO: Best Super Bowl Commercials Bey is beyond capable of the job, but there's definitely some pressure there: Madonna's 2012 spectacular was almost universally praised, and the telecast itself was the highest rated in Super Bowl history at about 111 million viewers.

When “Downton Abbey” returned last month for its third season, it was only a matter of time before Jimmy Fallon revived his popular spoof, “Downton Sixbey,” named for the studio at Rockefeller Center where “Late Night” is taped.   In the latest chapters of the saga, which aired in two parts on Tuesday and Wednesday night, Fallon -- much like his inspiration, Lord Grantham -- discovers that he's squandered the family's vast fortune on a lousy investment. (At the risk of revealing too much, let's just say it wasn't a railroad.)

Stacey Dash, in the wake of a flood of ugly tweets in reaction to her endorsement of Mitt Romney over the weekend, is defending her right to free speech, and to vote for the candidate of her choice for the top job in the country. Dash, the "Single Ladies" actress best known for her role on "Clueless," appeared on Piers Morgan's show Tuesday night to discuss the backlash after she tweeted Sunday, "Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future. " She followed it up with, "My humble opinion...

R. Kelly had already been onstage for half an hour Friday night at Nokia Theatre when he announced that it was time to say what was on his mind. “I [conceived] three kids listening to my own music,” sang the R&B star in apparent improvisation over a midtempo vamp by his eight-piece band. “You did it," he sang. "Why can't I?” The idea: If Kelly's audience has used his music as an aphrodisiac -- a service he's been providing for 20 years without interruption -- then shouldn't he be entitled to the same privilege?

OAKLAND - During R. Kelly's "Single Ladies" show Wednesday , every crotch grab, pelvic thrust and naughty exchange with the audience - and there were plenty - was met with screams, whether it came from the nosebleed seats, the orchestra pit or the two bars built into his set (six ladies watched from the stage, with cocktails). "All of the single ladies are going to come out, and that's going to bring the guys because they are going to go somewhere all the ladies will be," Kelly said with a laugh in his dressing room before the show at Paramount Theatre while sipping a cocktail of his own. "We're going to make this one big giant music matchmaking game.

On a night in which Beyoncé set a record for women with six Grammy Awards, the reigning diva of R&B still had to share the spotlight with 20-year-old country-pop princess Taylor Swift, who collected four awards, including album of the year, for "Fearless," the biggest-selling album of 2009. Swift's win at the end of Sunday night's 3 1/2 -hour ceremony seemed to stun the music-industry audience inside Staples Center in Los Angeles. "I just hope you know how much this means to me . . . that we get to take this back to Nashville," a breathless Swift said onstage at the 52nd awards.

Just before the opening credits of "The Mindy Project" materialize, Mindy Kaling as her eponymous character has a heart to heart with a Barbie-like doll - and moments later, gets served. "If you don't pull it together, no one will ever love you," the doll warns. Adding insult to injury, the plastic figurine notes that she "at least" has a boyfriend. "When that hot, mean doll pointed out that even she had a boyfriend," Kaling's character says in a voice-over, "that's when I started to cry....
