A class-action lawsuit filed against Six Flags Magic Mountain alleges that the amusement park illegally discriminated against more than 4,000 black patrons, including a former Olympic bronze medalist.

While all eyes will be on Disney California Adventure in 2012, plenty of other theme parks in California will be adding new rides and attractions in time for the summer crowds. Our Top 10 for 2012 is dominated by new rides coming to DCA's 12-acre Cars Land expansion , the grand finale in the $1 billion extreme makeover the Anaheim theme park has undertaken during the past five years. DCA's transformation is so massive that even Disneyland is taking the year off as far as new attractions go, letting the spotlight shine on its younger neighbor.

At first I thought it was too early to look ahead at the new attractions coming to U.S. theme parks in 2013, but then I realized a number of big rides have already been announced and many more are already in the planning stages. > Photos: Most anticipated new U.S. theme park rides for 2013 It already seems like 2013 is shaping up as a good year for ride enthusiasts and theme park fans. Cedar Point and Six Flags Magic Mountain have been battling over the coveted title of Roller Coaster Capital of the World for years. Six Flags unveiled its 2013 lineup of new roller coasters, thrill rides, water slides and live shows at the amusement park chain's 13 locations. > Photos: New attractions coming to Six Flags parks in 2013 Six Flags' 2013 attractions include three roller coasters, two swing tower rides, four water slide complexes and two shows.   Among the highlights:   Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio) - The 1992 Rattler wooden coaster will be reborn as the Iron Rattler hybrid coaster with a steel track on wood supports.

The first volleys of the next roller coaster revolution have been fired in the forested Idaho panhandle, the emerging epicenter of thrill ride innovation. Located in the small town of Hayden, Idaho, Rocky Mountain Construction has burst onto the ride manufacturing scene seemingly out of nowhere, shaking the theme park industry like a rumbling coaster train rocketing along a rickety old track with plans to build two looping wooden coasters in 2013. > Photos: Rocky Mountain and the history of looping wooden coasters Not since the coaster wars of the 1980s and '90s have the possibilities for thrill rides, new and revamped,   seemed so promising.

While officials have confirmed plans to build a second Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood , few details have emerged yet about the new themed land expected to be announced in the coming weeks. > Photos: Top 10 Wizarding World of Harry Potter rides and attractions Wizarding World proved an instant hit when it opened in June 2010 at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure theme park. Cedar Point theme park in Ohio plans to add a $25-million record-setting winged roller coaster in 2013, according to local media reports. Photos: Winged roller coaster at Cedar Point The Swiss-based Bolliger & Mabillard Wing Rider, dubbed "CP Alt.Winged," would be the world's fastest and longest winged coaster with a taller initial drop than any similar ride, according to a memo obtained by the  Sandusky Register newspaper....
