Six Flags unveiled its 2012 lineup of new roller coasters, thrill rides, water slides and live shows at the amusement park chain's 12 North American locations. > Photos: New attractions coming to Six Flags parks in 2012 New Six Flags President and Chief Executive Jim Reid-Anderson said a full slate of new additions would become an annual event, promising to add a new attraction at "every Six Flags park every year. " Six Flags ' 2012 attractions include two new roller coasters, two relocated coasters, three tower rides, three water slide complexes and at least one show.

A first-of-its-kind vertical roller coaster debuting June 30 at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will take riders through a pair of twists, a towering heart-line roll and a non-inverting loop. Dubbed Superman Ultimate Flight, the custom Premier Rides launched coaster at the Northern California park combines a unique blend of elements from other coasters, including Cedar Point's Wicked Twister, Universal Orlando's Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and Green Lantern: First Flight at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
With Latinos now estimated to make up nearly a third of the more than 25 million theme park visitors in Southern California annually, Six Flags Magic Mountain wants to make sure it gets its share of this increasingly lucrative market. Spanish-language broadcaster Univision Communications Inc. and amusement park operator Six Flags announced a broad marketing agreement Friday, a signal of growing reliance on Latinos for theme park attendance in major metropolitan areas.

Rather than a big new ride for 2014, Six Flags Magic Mountain will unveil several smaller attractions throughout the year. The Valencia amusement park will run a couple of coasters backward in the spring, add a kiddie coaster and a pair of water slides in the summer and expand its Halloween offerings in the fall. After introducing the Full Throttle looping launch coaster this year at Magic Mountain, it makes sense that Six Flags would spread the wealth to other locations in the amusement park chain in 2014.
