After eight years in Laguna Hills, the South Orange County Chambers of Commerce has moved to a new suite of offices in a new city. The chamber group recently began operating out of an office in the Plaza Empressa, at 29941 Aventura, Suite I at Santa Margarita Parkway and Via Empressa. With their lease expiring in Laguna Hills at the end of August, chamber officials made a decision to move when the Santa Margarita Co. came up with an offer for a lease in Rancho Santa Margarita just last month.

The City Council on Tuesday awarded certificates of recognition to Ray Havert, founder and executive director of Saddleback Community Outreach, as South Orange County Chambers of Commerce Businessman of the Year; Donna Riddell, for her service as president of the Laguna Hills Chamber of Commerce; and Eric Hazzard, for serving as the Laguna Hills High School student liaison.

The political action committee of the South Orange County Chambers of Commerce has endorsed the four incumbents running for reelection to the boards of the Saddleback Valley Unified School and Capistrano Unified School districts. The incumbents are Dore J. Gilbert and Bobbee Cline in Saddleback Valley, and Annette B. Gude and Crystal Kochendorfer in Capistrano Unified. The school board endorsements are the first made by the organization in nearly a decade.

The second All Orange County Chambers Mixer will be July 10 at Mission San Juan Capistrano. The event gathers all 900 members of the five-community South Orange County Chambers of Commerce, along with chambers from other parts of South County.
