The deal: Standard rooms at The Out NYC, billed as New York City's first "straight-friendly" urban resort, start at $250. Shared Luxury Accommodations -- European hostel-style bunk rooms equipped with four full-sized beds and a shared bathroom -- start at $99 a night. Each bed is a single-person unit that includes a 22-inch TV, privacy curtains and a cubby for storage.

The Baja resort, an hour's drive south of San Diego, is offering Saturdays at the Ranch, a one-day visit that includes fitness and spa activities, meals and a hands-on afternoon in a class at the culinary center. While pets receive their moments of spa bliss, owners can feel good by having a $99 massage that also helps fund an animal rescue organization. The deal: The free massage for dogs of all sizes will be performed by certified animal technicians, according to the hotel. For owners who indulge in their own Spa Nautica Massage at the hotel, it costs $99 for a 60-minute session, and 10% of the proceeds go to Much Love Animal Rescue in Los Angeles.

Cherry blossom season sprang to life earlier than usual this year in Tokyo and is now in full swing, according to Japan's weather agency. An official rite of spring, the blooming of cherry trees is a beloved natural spectacle in Japan, involving nationwide parties and celebrations to take in the flowers' short-lived beauty. The first blossoms were spotted this year on March 16, the earliest date on record. Among the festivities are special events at the Peninsula Tokyo , which got into the act early by importing cherry blossoms and setting 14 florists to work to create seven huge arrangements.

El Encanto is back -- with a new spa, new ballroom and its own Holstein cow. The historic hideaway in the Santa Barbara hills hasn't gone Farmville but it has undergone a "meticulous restoration" by Orient-Express Hotels , marking the luxury brand's first property in the West. The hotel reopened Monday to guests with 92 bungalows that overlook the city and the ocean. The official public opening isn't until Friday. (Sneak a peek with this El Encanto photo gallery .) Orient-Express spent $134 million and seven years restoring the hotel in keeping with its California Craftsman and Spanish Colonial Revival styles, according to a company spokeswoman.
