A 9-year-old La Crescenta boy--who played three more innings after being struck in the head with a baseball--collapsed and died several hours after the game, officials said Thursday. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of Timothy Richard Herman's death. Sheriff's Lt. Ralph Martin, a friend of the family and a baseball manager in the Crescenta Sports Assn. league, said the boy's parents, Robert and Karen Herman, doubted that the impact of the ball caused Timothy's death.
