Keith Erickson, the Lakers' radio and television commentator the last seven seasons, is resigning. Erickson is leaving to become president of Sports Fantasies, Inc., the company that last year created the "Dream Game" tapes. Recorded to order by Laker play-by-play announcer Chick Hearn and Erickson, the tapes are sold to individuals. Since the idea went over so well, the company is expanding.

Former Laker Stu Lantz will be Chick Hearn's color commentator on Laker broadcasts next season, the team said Wednesday. Lantz, 41, replaced Keith Erickson, who left to become president of Sports Fantasies, Inc. Lantz played in the National Basketball Assn. for nine years, 1968 through '76. He began his career with the San Diego Rockets and also played for the Detroit Pistons and the New Orleans Jazz before joining the Lakers.

The familiar, excited tones of Francis Dayle Hearn, known as Chick, fill the air. With two seconds to go, "The Weave" is facing the hoop. "He looks at the basket. He trembles. He shakes. He quivers. He fires," the sportscaster yells. "It hits the rim, bounces high, bounces again on the rim. And now falls in the basket. The Los Angeles Lakers win the World Championship!" Never mind the Weave; check Chick.
