Arizona 5, Dodgers 3 AT THE PLATE: Carl Crawford collected his first hits in six months, slapping two singles and driving in two runs. Crawford's last hits had come Aug. 17, before the Boston Red Sox traded him to the Dodgers as part of a multiple-player package. Crawford singled through the left side of the infield in the third inning. His fifth-inning single to center field drove in Elian Herrera and Dee Gordon. ON THE MOUND: With Josh Beckett pitching in a simulated game instead of making his scheduled start, mound duties fell to a collection of relievers.

Angels 13, Oakland 13 AT THE PLATE: Alberto Callaspo, batting cleanup, was three for three with a run and two runs batted in. Catcher Hank Conger had two hits, raising his spring average to .417. ON THE MOUND: Jered Weaver, who came in having given up one run this spring, gave up three times that many on one swing in the first inning when Josh Reddick hit a three-run home run. And the afternoon went downhill from there with Weaver giving up eight runs and six hits — including three homers — in two innings.

PEORIA, Ariz. - It wasn't the debut Sean Burnett hoped for, the Angels new bullpen acquisition giving up two runs and four hits in the span of five batters Wednesday in an 8-6 loss to the San Diego Padres. But for Manager Mike Scioscia, the 20-pitch outing was a big step forward. "Just getting out there and getting the wraps off is important," Scioscia said of Burnett, who hadn't appeared in a game this spring because of a stiff lower back. "He'll be better his next time out. An important part of our team is going to be our bullpen.
