This post has been corrected. See note below. A man has been arrested in connection with last week's fatal stabbing on the Metro Red Line in East Hollywood, officials said Sunday. Angelo Correia , 24, was arrested Friday after investigators served a search warrant at his home in North Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He is being held on $1 million bail. Homicide investigators received an anonymous tip that led them to the suspect and his residence, the department said.

A mother with reported emotional problems fatally stabbed her 7-month-old son at a Bay Area park on Saturday, police said. East Bay Regional Park District Police Chief Timothy Anderson told the San Jose Mercury News that the mother, who was not identified, had depression.  Police discovered a car abandoned at  Del Valle Regional Park on Saturday morning. Rangers began searching and found the woman on a trail holding her lifeless baby. "This kind of thing rarely happens in our jurisdiction," Anderson told the newspaper.

Police have arrested two transients in connection with a fatal stabbing in Hollywood on Tuesday night. The stabbing occurred near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue about 8:10 p.m., said LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph. The two suspects, who police declined to identify, got into a confrontation with a woman Tuesday night and stabbed her, Joseph said. The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was not released. No other details were available.

A teenage boy suspected of fatally stabbing his high school classmate at a Connecticut high school just hours before the junior prom is under psychiatric evaluation, the teen's lawyer said Saturday. At the same time, friends of stabbing victim Maren Sanchez mourned her death, sharing memories of a girl they described as an outgoing teen who served as something of a “counselor” for many students and was known for heartfelt chats by her locker. The 16-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld because of his age, will not be in court during Monday's scheduled arraignment, his attorney, Edward J. Gavin, told the Los Angeles Times.

MURRYSVILLE, Pa. -- Students who witnessed Wednesday's stabbing rampage at Franklin Regional High School felt as if they had survived a horror movie. Some attended an evening prayer service for at least 19 students and two adults who were wounded in the morning attack. Alex Hribal, 16, has been charged as an adult with four counts of attempted homicide, 21 counts of aggravated assault and one count of bringing a weapon on school property, said his attorney, Patrick Thomassey. Hribal is being held without bail.

A man stabbed a doctor while being treated at a psychiatric office at a Boston medical building Tuesday and was fatally shot by an off-duty security guard who happened by, police said. The attack took place at a high-rise affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital. The doctor, identified by hospital officials as Dr. Astrid Desrosiers, was in serious but stable condition. Police said the man died of gunshot wounds. He was identified as Jay Carciero, 37, of Reading, Mass.

Early last week, Rachel Poole, the Texas wife of an overseas soldier anticipating the birth of their daughter, posted on her Facebook page: “ 10 days and counting....... Can not wait until Izzy gets here!!!!! These past six months have gone so slowly. The end is finally in sight. Beverly Hills police Wednesday announced the arrest of three suspects in the stabbing of the 21-year-old son of a Japanese filmmaker who was found fatally wounded outside a spacious hillside home in Trousdale Estates. The deadly stabbing occurred in an exclusive Beverly Hills neighborhood unaccustomed to such violence. The three suspects were booked on suspicion of murder and were being held Wednesday evening in the city jail, the Beverly Hills Police Department said. Their names were not released.

Several East Los Angeles residents who witnessed the robbery and stabbing of an ice cream vendor Sunday chased down the two alleged assailants and held them until police arrived. Jose Torres, 18, and Macareo DeJesus, 21, are being held at the East Los Angeles sheriff's station on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery, according to a sheriff's spokesman. Encarnacion Garcia, 50, the vendor who suffered multiple stab wounds in the 7:30 p.m. attack at Atlantic Boulevard and Repetto Street, was in serious condition at Santa Marta Hospital.

A 16-year-old boy refused to drop the knives he was using in a slashing attack at a Pennsylvania school and told a school official that he had “more people to kill,” according to a police affidavit released Friday. Alex Hribal was arraigned Friday on 21 counts of attempted homicide and 21 counts of aggravated assault in the April 9 attack at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pa., about 20 miles from Pittsburgh. Hribal, who remains in custody, was originally charged with four counts of attempted homicide and 21 counts of aggravated assault.

A 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death inside a Milford, Conn., high school just hours before the junior prom on Friday, officials said. Maren Sanchez died from her wounds at Bridgeport Hospital, Milford Police Chief Keith Mello told reporters. “We are obviously devastated by the loss of one of our students,” School Superintendent Elizabeth Feser said at the news conference from the scene. A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody, officials said. His name is being withheld because of his age. Students at the school told reporters that the incident was caused by a dispute over a date for the junior prom, originally scheduled for Friday night but canceled because of the stabbing.

A homeless man who was involved in the fatal stabbing of a Lynwood woman last year on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been sentenced to two years in prison. Jason Joel Wolstone, 34, pleaded guilty to assault likely to produce great bodily harm Wednesday in connection with the June 18 attack off Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. During the attack, Wolstone pushed 23-year-old Christine Calderon then put her in a headlock after she refused to give him and a second homeless man a dollar for taking their picture as they held up signs asking for money that included profanity.

A man was injured Tuesday night in a stabbing attack in Venice, police said. The victim was attacked around 8:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Venice Way , just a short walk from the boardwalk, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim's name was not released. He was believed to be in his 20s and was taken by paramedics to a hospital. "It does not appear that his wounds are life threatening," Officer Sara Faden said. The attacker or attackers fled the scene.

A nurse remained in critical condition Monday after being stabbed multiple times in a Sylmar hospital, officials said. “She's said to be a fighter, and she's hanging in there,” said Lt. Denise Stephenson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's County Services Bureau. A man entered the Olive View-UCLA Medical Center around 2 a.m. Sunday and bypassed a weapons screening checkpoint, authorities said. Sheriff's deputies ran after him and were searching the hospital when they heard a woman scream.

Police say a man with a knife chased his wife through their Chino Hills neighborhood Tuesday and stabbed her to death in the street. Samir Wahid, 39, was arrested at the scene in connection with the death of his wife, Iman, 33, according to San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers. The couple emigrated from Lebanon, and Samir Wahid owned a construction company. Beavers said the attack began inside the couple's home in the 15700 block of Sedona Drive on Tuesday afternoon when Samir Wahid, who had not been living at the residence, walked in and began stabbing his wife.

Two on-duty nurses were stabbed in separate incidents at Los Angeles-area hospitals Sunday, leaving one of them hospitalized in critical condition, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. The first stabbing occurred at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar at around 2 a.m., when a man entered the hospital, made his way past a weapons screening area and into the building. Sheriff's deputies searching for him heard a scream that led them to the victim, a female nurse who'd been stabbed in the upper body.

A 26-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested Sunday after he ran into a Sylmar hospital and stabbed an on-duty nurse, authorities said. Ramiro Carnalla entered Olive View - UCLA Medical Center about 2 a.m. and went around the hospital's weapons screening area, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Carnalla then ran into the building with security guards and deputies trailing after him. As authorities searched the hospital, they heard a woman scream and found a nurse who had been stabbed several times in the upper and lower torso, authorities said.
