She's old enough to drive. "Teen Auto class starts next week," Louise says, a measure of relief in her voice as she envisions the day when Stacey chauffeurs herself to lessons, practices and tournaments.

Anne Mall of Laguna Niguel beat Nicole Elliott of Dana Point in the semifinals of the girls' 18 division of the Southern California junior sectional championships Sunday at Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club in Fountain Valley. Mall won, 6-2, 6-3, and advances to play Stacey Jellen at 11 a.m. today for the championship. Jellen, of Calabasas, beat Ania Bleszynski of Thousand Oaks, 7-6, 6-3, in the other semifinal Sunday.

Jean Okada of Santa Ana and Newport Beach's Keri Phebus and Danielle Scott advanced to the semifinals of the Toshiba Tennis Opportunity Tournament on Friday at the Rancho San Clemente Tennis and Fitness Club. The winner earns a spot in the qualifying tournament for the Toshiba Classic, which starts July 31 at La Costa. Okada defeated Palos Verde's Amanda Augustus, 6-4, 6-1. Phebus beat Krissy Hamilton of Agoura Hills, 6-3, 6-4, and Scott rolled past Stacey Jellen of Calabasas Park, 6-0, 6-2.

Ania Bleszynski of Thousand Oaks and Stacey Jellen of Calabasas won quarterfinal matches in the girls' age 18 division of the Southern California Junior Sectional tennis championships onSaturday at Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club in Fountain Valley and will meet in a semifinal at 11 a.m. today. Bleszynski, seeded second, beat Keri Phebus of Newport Beach, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, and Jellen, seeded third, eliminated Erika Asmuss of Huntington Beach, 6-1, 6-0.

Cammy MacGregor, a 1987 Palos Verdes High graduate, took a step toward reaching the main draw of the $375,000 Virginia Slims of Los Angeles by defeating Stacey Jellen of Calabasas, 6-1, 6-1, in a first-round qualifying match Saturday at the Manhattan Country Club. MacGregor will play Tracey Morton of Australia in a second-round match today. The winner will meet the Larissa Schaerer-Tessa Price winner for a spot in the 56-player main draw. Play begins at 9 a.m.

GIRLS' TENNIS Calabasas 14, Arcadia 4--The Coyotes were led by the usual stars, No. 1 singles player Natasha Pospich and No. 2 Stacey Jellen, who won all of six of their matches to lead Calabasas into the quarterfinal round of the Southern Section 3-A Division playoffs. Calabasas Coach Bill Bellatty praised his three doubles teams, Tracy Paris-Melissa Pifko, Faye Reisman-Mandy Mayo and Joni Levy-Lauren Feldman, who combined for seven points.

Keri Phebus of Corona del Mar High School and Anne Mall of Dana Hills cruised through the first round and the quarterfinals of the Southern Section girls' individual tennis championships Thursday at the Lindborg Racquet Club and will meet in a semifinal match at 9 a.m. today. In doubles, Heather Bolton and Anna Zaricki of Dana Hills moved into the semifinals against Jennifer Cohen and Allyson Reeves of Palos Verdes.

Anne Mall of Laguna Niguel defeated Stacey Jellen of Calabasas, 6-2, 6-3, Monday in the Southern California girls' 18 sectional championship at Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club in Fountain Valley. Mall, 17, who played at UCLA this year, had little trouble with third-seeded Jellen. Mall broke serve six times in the match and used accurate passing shots when Jellen came to the net.

Jennifer Reese won a singles set and her teammates swept the doubles competition to give Westlake High a 10-8 upset victory over top-seeded Calabasas on Tuesday in the Southern Section 3-A Division tennis final in Claremont. After Calabasas (16-4) had dominated singles play all day, winning 48 games while losing only one, Reese defeated Alison Paris, 6-3, in the final singles set. It was all the third-seeded Warriors needed against a team that had dominated singles play all season.

Josh Willis, a 6-foot-6 swingman from Crescenta Valley High, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Cal State Northridge next season. Willis averaged 24 points and 7.2 rebounds a game during his senior season to earn All-Pacific League honors. He also played on the Falcons' baseball team, batting .384 with seven doubles and 11 runs batted in. High school players from 29 schools will be represented in the Burbank-Glendale all-star football game Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Sylmar High.
