SOS Staffing Services Inc. said it acquired Devon & Devon Personnel Services Inc., an accounting and high-end administrative personnel provider based in Newport Beach. Financial terms weren't disclosed. SOS said it will maintain Devon & Devon's operational management. Devon & Devon has annual revenue of $4.2 million. SOS, a Salt Lake City-based provider of staffing services, had revenue of $209.3 million for the year ended Dec. 28.

Comarco Inc., a provider of wireless communications products, said that it acquired the assets of R.A.L. Consulting and Staffing Services Inc., a privately held company in Victorville, for an undisclosed amount. R.A.L., which had revenue of more than $8 million for the last 12 months, provides engineering, technical and other personnel to commercial customers in Southern California.

Execusoft Inc., an information technology staffing company, said Tuesday that it has agreed to be acquired by SOS Staffing Services Inc. in Salt Lake City. Terms weren't disclosed. SOS Staffing said it expects to close the acquisition by the end of August. SOS Staffing said Execusoft's offices in Salt Lake City and Orange generated revenue of about $10 million over the last 12 months. SOS Staffing had revenue of about $136 million last year.

Insurance authorities say two Southern California business executives have been charged with defrauding the state of $18 million in a workers' compensation scam. State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner said David Zahler and David Tai were charged after a 2 1/2 -year investigation of their temporary employment company, Staffing Services Inc. in Bellflower. Zahler, who is chief executive, and Tai, who is chief financial officer, are accused of misrepresenting the type of employees for whom they were seeking workers' compensation coverage so they could pay cheaper premiums.

Comarco Inc. said it expects increased revenue in the fourth quarter ending Jan. 31, 1997, and the following fiscal year, fueled by new contracts and the acquisition of two businesses. The acquisitions, and new contracts totaling $70 million, should boost revenue by $20 million next year, the wireless communications provider said. Roth Staffing, a Brea provider of temporary and permanent staffing services, tops Inc. magazine's list of the nation's 500 fastest-growing privately held companies over the last five years. The company's revenues have exploded 20,332% to $73.8 million last year from $361,000 in 1994, the year it was founded, Inc. said Wednesday. Seventy-five California companies ranked among the 500 fastest-growing firms, more than any other state.
