With its heart in the kind of smart, irreverent sketch comedy Steve Allen used to do, and its head in a struggle for the soul of a good man, "Hell" is a bona fide entertainment with ideas.

The Cal State Fullerton soccer team lately has taken to calling its home field "the Danger Zone"--in reference to a three-year home unbeaten streak of 15 games against conference opponents. It has been a little something for the Titans to take pride in after finishing 7-11-2 last year, the worst season in Al Mistri's eight years as coach. But after a 1-0 upset of 16th-ranked San Diego State Sunday--at home, naturally--the Titans have something else to be proud of.

I appreciate that Jim Murray writes his column to entertain rather than inform. Nonetheless, the implications of his column in the Oct. 18 paper were frightening. And if baseball talent is determined by media appeal, who do we put in the Hall of Fame--Steve Sax?
