Victoria's Secret model and bathing suit designer Selita Ebanks has never been one to go unnoticed.  Whether strutting on a Paris catwalk or scuffling in a Miami club cat fight, Ebanks is a hands-down showstopper. She debuted a popular swimwear line that is appropriately named "Sass by Selita" this past year, a reflection of her fierce attitude toward both life and fashion. Ebanks did not fail to impress us at last week's Clos Du Bois Winery celebration of the launch of the new wine, Rouge, in New York City.

The only fashion statement shoe designer Steve Madden is likely to make in the next few years will be whether he uses twin-needle pin tucking or free-motion stitching for the mailbags he could end up piecing together in prison. Or maybe which orange jumper he'll wear to the dining hall. But what of the trendy footwear company that bears his name? Paris-based designer Isabel Marant rhapsodizes about Los Angeles the way most people rhapsodize about her hometown. "In a minute you can be at the sea or in Joshua Tree," she says. "There are so many things to do in nature. But I love the architecture too. There's everything I love - the sun and the light. I have always thought this is a place I could live. " Marant, 45, launched her boho-cool label with jewelry in 1994. Soon after, she expanded into clothing. Models from the issue chatted about the differences in their kind of modeling and that of the runway models taking part in New York Fashion Week. For one thing, the girls in swimsuits tend to be shorter (several of them are around 5-9). For another, they are much, much curvier. "I don't really focus on other girls," cover girl Kate Upton said. "I think everyone has a different body type.

Hush Puppies used to be synonymous with fuddy-duddy, and no hip soul would be caught dead wearing them. That all changed in the mid-1990s, when the Rockford, Mich.-based company revamped its line, adding retro lace-up styles in two-tone colors, in addition to loafers, that became all the rage.

In my life, 2009 was a year of milestones. I sent my last child off to college, started over again with a new puppy and became eligible for the senior citizen specials at Denny's. I expect 2010 to be the year when time speeds up, when I finally come to understand what the old folks meant when they used to tell me, "Time just goes by so fast." It didn't seem fast when I was in the midst of it all, juggling children, career, friends and romance. The days and weeks seemed interminable, filled with tasks that never got done.
