As speculation (and uncertainty) hits the Net over Jennifer Lopez's return to “American Idol,” Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has decided he won't return to the aging competiton for a third season. “After some long ... hard ... thoughts … I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress 'American Idol' before she boils my rabbit,” Tyler said in a statement on Thursday. “I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back - - but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I've got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band.” Immediately after Tyler inked his deal to join the show, rumors intensified that the rocker was preparing to walk away from the band he's spent nearly 40 years fronting.

By the light of the supermoon at Saturday's Opening Night festivities at the Hollywood Bowl, Patti Austin, John Legend and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett welcomed the crowd, while a notable trio -- Arsenio Hall, Stevie Wonder and Peter Fonda -- presented the awards. As if all that weren't enough reason for a celebration complete with fireworks, Darren Criss of TV's “Glee” introduced YOLA, the Youth Orchestra L.A., but not until after his performance with the John Burroughs High School Powerhouse Show Choir.

Steven Tyler may have to keep his shirt on after all. After being passed by Hawaii's Senate, a celebrity privacy bill known as The Steven Tyler Act is now stuck in the island state's House of Representatives with little apparent chance of moving forward. “There is zero support for that legislation in the House of Representatives,” Rep. Angus McKelvey of Maui, who is chairman of the consumer protection committee, told the Associated Press. “To say there is absolutely zero support would be an understatement.” McKelvey's committee is one of three the bill would have to clear to make it to the House floor for a vote.

You could credit the so-called super moon rising, the fireworks, the perfect weather or some combination thereof, but an unexplainable event occurred on Saturday during the annual "Opening Night at the Bowl" at the Hollywood Bowl. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith performed their silliest, least consequential hit, “Love in an Elevator,” with a full orchestra backing - and it sounded pretty good. Is nobody going to Hollywood anymore? Jennifer Lopez announced her intention to leave "American Idol" on Friday morning, hot on the heels of Steven Tyler's declaration of independence the day before. And there are rumors that Randy Jackson, the third and only remaining original judge, might be leaving the long-running Fox talent search. Lopez's voice cracked off and on - Surprised, anyone? No? - as she told Ryan Seacrest she'd be leaving the "Idol" team after two seasons.

Apart from Steven Tyler, dressed in drag and calling himself "Pepper," stopping by to spice things up -- he got in a bleeped-out word, a head-scratching farm-animal reference and a moon in record time - things were relatively tame at "American Idol's" Oklahoma City auditions. The judges seem to have settled into their groove, with an apparent absence of friction between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. Keith "Mr. Easygoing" Urban, though prone to catching the giggles, kept things moving along.

Steven Tyler and the guys from Aerosmith don't normally do morning shows, as they joked to Matt Lauer on "Today" on Friday morning. And with good reason, as Tyler soon demonstrated when he dropped an f-bomb while Al Roker was doing the weather. Aerosmith made a special early morning appearance on "Today" to promote the band's new album, "Music From Another Dimension" by playing a live concert outside Rockefeller Center. But while Tyler and the band warmed up the crowd on stage, they apparently weren't aware that their stage patter could be heard on the live feed as Roker delivered the weather forecast.

When it comes to style on "American Idol," this season, all the action has been at the judges' desk. Jennifer Lopez has been trying her best to steal the spotlight, trotting out one designer outfit after another (Lanvin, Moschino Cheap & Chic, George Chakra), with a new hairstyle and heavy-handed makeup job to match. But Steven Tyler is the real breakout style star on the unscripted show. His dandified look is vintage rock star, back when rock stars embraced the role 24-7 -- hip-hugger pants, leather jackets, beetle boots, long scarves and layered jewelry, by labels such as All Saints and Chrome Hearts.

BOSTON - Backstage in Steven Tyler's dressing room at the TD Garden last month, the flamboyant frontman readied for an Aerosmith show in the band's hometown surrounded by family, friends and tie-dyed tapestries he'd hung over the room's cinder-block walls. Guests and their plus-ones swarmed outside the room; inside a smaller crew circulated, including Bebe Buell, the fashion model with whom Tyler had his movie-star daughter Liv Tyler; Jason Bonham, the son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham; and two Yorkshire terriers named Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. "Butch is the little one," Tyler said, lifting the football-sized dog to his face.

Steven Tyler isn't returning to "American Idol," next season and in a new interview in Rolling Stone, the Aerosmith frontman reveals that he's happy to have seen the last of the judge's table. "I loved it and hated it," Tyler admitted to the magazine . "It was a great job, I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life. " Earlier this month, it became official that both Tyler and Jennifer Lopez would be departing "Idol" after having done it for two seasons.

"Epic," a fairy tale about a tiny universe of creatures who protect the forest, has many virtues. The animation is lush and imaginative. The 3-D effects are stunning, among the best we've seen. The coming-of-age ideas are framed in eco-friendly ways. And the voice talent - an eclectic mix that includes Amanda Seyfried, Jason Sudeikis, Colin Farrell, Christoph Waltz, Josh Hutcherson, Chris O'Dowd, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull and Beyoncé - is excellent. The story is a classic one of good versus evil.

With Steven Tyler as their public symbol and California's anti-paparazzi laws as their guide, Hawaiian politicians are backing legislation they hope will make their state more welcoming to celebrities. J. Kalani English, the state senator who wrote the bill that paves the way for celebrities to lodge civil suits against paparazzi, has dubbed SB 465 the "Steven Tyler Act. " Aerosmith's flamboyant frontman -- who dressed up in drag for a recent episode of "American Idol" -- owns a home in Maui and reached out to English, telling him paparazzi in boats offshore frequently use telephoto lenses to snap pictures inside his home.

If Aerosmith's definition of the sound of "another dimension" is indeed true, the world is a much less mystical place than we would like to believe. Rather than offering previously unimaginable tones and visions, "Music From Another Dimension" delivers riffs, clichés, solos, yowls and a virtual banquet of the same one-dimensional tropes Aerosmith has been offering for years. Mixed in, however, are a few gems that might be considered worthy additions to the band's catalog were they offered without such grand promises.

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler is back in the saddle, two months after the rock band was forced to cancel its North American tour when he fell off a stage and broke his shoulder. The group will perform a private concert next week at a San Francisco convention sponsored by Oracle Corp., the software giant run by billionaire Larry Ellison. "Aerosmith is a go," Oracle spokeswoman Karen Tillman said this week. The event was scheduled before Tyler's accident. Tyler, 61, broke his left shoulder and needed 20 stitches in his head after the Aug. 5 mishap at a show in Sturgis, S.D.
