A police officer who would have received a bravery medal Saturday for rescuing people from last year's Oklahoma City bombing was found dead of apparently self-inflicted wounds. Police dogs and helicopters led deputies to the body of Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Terrance Yeakey, 30. He apparently tried to cut his wrists and ultimately shot himself in a nearby field in El Reno, about 40 miles west of Oklahoma City, Capt. Bill Citty said.

Hall of Fame pitcher Ferguson Jenkins attended the funeral of his young daughter and girlfriend in Guthrie, Okla. Samantha Jenkins, 3, and Cynthia Takieddine, 44, died of carbon monoxide poisoning after Takieddine ran a hose from the exhaust pipe to the inside of her car and locked the doors. Noble County (Okla.) authorities said a suicide note was found in the car.
