Giancarlo Maldonado put Chivas USA on the board early, scoring off a long pass in the seventh minute against Pachuca FC in their SuperLiga match Wednesday night at Home Depot Center. The quick score in the quick game was all that was needed for Chivas in their 1-0 victory. Neither team will play beyond Wednesday in SuperLiga, a fact Chivas learned just before facing Pachuca. " … It wasn't enough because of the result earlier," Chivas Coach Martin Vasquez said, referring to a tie in Houston and loss to Puebla FC. "That's how we approached the game, knowing we had little chances."

Major League Soccer on Wednesday unveiled its 2010 regular-season schedule and, for the first time in the league's 15-year history, it conforms to the pattern set by Europe's leading leagues. Each of the 16 teams will play the other 15 teams once at home and once on the road in a 30-game schedule during the March 25-October 24 regular season. That follows the script long established in Europe and should lead to an increase in MLS attendance because fans will have only one opportunity of seeing each visiting team and its stars during the regular season.

After learning that his team's run in SuperLiga would come to an end when his game was over because Tigres defeated the Chicago Fire 2-1, Chivas USA Coach Preki met the news with a polite shrug and pushed forward. He used Saturday as an opportunity to rest key players and tinker with a lineup that has produced more losses than wins recently. The result was a 1-1 tie against San Luis on Saturday in front of an announced crowd of 11,083 at Home Depot Center.
