Tebow

This has not been the best week for New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. First, on Wednesday, Jets Coach Rex Ryan says Greg McElroy will replace Mark Sanchez as the Jets' starter, leaving Tebow on the bench. Then, on Thursday, US Weekly reports that Tebow has broken up with actress Camilla Belle after two months of dating. Belle is famous for starring in "From Prada to Nada" and "Dirty Dancing 3. " And when I say famous, I mean "been in movies no one has ever heard of or watched.

Greg McElroy is the starting quarterback for the New York Jets this week. Coach Rex Ryan made it perfectly clear Tuesday that it was his decision to replace struggling starter Mark Sanchez with the team's No. 3 quarterback for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. That's about all that was perfectly clear after Ryan's conference call with the press, during which he refused to go into detail about why he chose McElroy over Tim Tebow, the guy who has been listed as the team's No. 2 quarterback all season.

Mark Sanchez will be on the sideline when the New York Jets play their final home game of the season on Sunday. And standing right next to the former starting quarterback could very well be supposed No. 2 QB Tim Tebow. Calling the signals for the Jets against the San Diego Chargers will be former third-stringer Greg McElroy, who apparently leapfrogged over Tebow to take over as starter for the now-benched Sanchez. McElroy, a seventh-round pick last year out of Alabama, has made just one appearance in an NFL game, coming in for a struggling Sanchez late in the third quarter against the Arizona Cardinals on Dec. 2 and leading the Jets to a 7-6 victory.

Not only were the New York Jets eliminated from playoff contention with their 14-10 loss to Tennessee on Monday night, they sank five spots to No. 25 in the newest Times NFL power rankings, which were unveiled Tuesday. The Jets even turned to Tebow for a series in the second quarter. He picked up two first downs, but the drive stalled from there after a sack, a delay-of-game penalty and an incompletion. NFL RANKINGS: The complete list Minnesota moved into the top 10 on the heels of victory Sunday, replacing the New York Giants.

The Detroit Tigers have made another major move to help their quest to win a World Series for the first time since 1984. Right-handed pitcher Anibal Sanchez agreed to an $80-million, five-year contract with the Tigers, a person familiar with the deal told the Associated Press on Friday. The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because the agreement hadn't been finalized, said Sanchez is scheduled for a physical Monday. Sanchez was a part of Detroit's four-man rotation that led the franchise to the World Series this year.

Greg McElroy has saved the day for the New York Jets! Well, at least he saved one day for the team, and that day was Sunday. The second-year quarterback did two very important things for Jets fans in his first NFL appearance. He replaced starting QB Mark Sanchez, who has been struggling pretty much all season but was really struggling Sunday. And on his very first drive, which started late in the third quarter, McElroy led the Jets to their only touchdown of the day, a one-yard pass from the quarterback to Jeff Cumberland on the first play of the fourth quarter.

Wondering why Tim Tebow didn't play in the New York Jets' 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving? He has two broken ribs. "They need a little time to get better," Tebow after the game, adding that the broken ribs are making it more difficult for him to breathe. Tebow has had a limited role in the Jets' offense this season after being acquired from the Denver Broncos in March. He was expected to add a dynamic element to the offense, particularly in the wildcat package, but he is averaging only about seven plays on offense.

Tim Tebow is human (despite what some people might think). We human beings all have feelings. And those feelings can get hurt when someone you think is your friend talks trash about you behind your back. (Hey, Mike Whateveryournamewas from sixth grade, I'm looking at you. Yeah, I heard what you said about me to Fred Whatshisface that one day before homeroom. Not cool, jerk.) Oh yeah, we were talking about Tebow. Anyway, some of his New York Jets teammates said some not-so-nice things about him in the New York Daily News the other day. And to make it worse, almost all of them did it anonymously.

Tim Tebow is "terrible. " Would making him the New York Jets' starting quarterback reverse the team's fortunes? "Hell, no!" A number of fans have been clamoring for Tebow to replace struggling starter Mark Sanchez. But "nobody" on the team feels that way. Normally it's opposing teams that talk trash about another squad's players. But all of the quotes above, and more, were attributed to Tebow's teammates in an article posted Wednesday by the New York Daily News. All of the extremely negative comments were made by anonymous players, including some starters and other members of the organization.
