An MRI test revealed Jered Weaver has tendinitis in his right biceps, and the Angels ace, as expected, will not pitch against the Detroit Tigers this weekend. The team said in a release that it will announce this weekend when Weaver will make his next start. It appears that Weaver, who is 16-4 with a 2.86 earned-run average, was slowed by the tendinitis before he was struck on the right shoulder by a Dustin Ackley line drive Sunday in Seattle. He gave up 15 earned runs and 22 hits in 17 innings of his three starts before facing the Mariners.

Clippers forward Jared Dudley said he got a platelet-rich plasma injection to help alleviate the painful tendinitis in his right knee. The procedure, known as PRP, takes a sample of the patient's blood and spins it in a centrifuge for 15 minutes. It is then injected to accelerate tissue repair. Though he's hurting, Dudley hasn't missed any of the Clippers' 15 games. He is averaging 8.4 points per game on 48% shooting, with 38.5% (20 for 52) on three-pointers. He's playing 27 minutes per game.

Pau Gasol will undergo a minimally invasive procedure Thursday to try to combat tendinitis in his knees. Gasol sat out eight Lakers games this season because of tendon soreness in both knees. The procedure is called Fasciotomy and Surgical Tenotomy (FAST) and is an effort to eliminate scar tissue by inserting into each knee a probe that emits ultrasonic energy. Healthy tendon tissue is not disturbed in the procedure. A timetable will be released Thursday for Gasol, who has one more season and $19.3 million remaining on his contract.

I guess it was Kobe Bryant's tendinitis that made Derek Fisher miss two of three free throws down the stretch against the Warriors. Kobe's ailment also led Fisher to foul a 5-foot-5 point guard with two seconds on the shot clock, giving him the game-sealing three-point play. I guess it was Kobe's tendinitis that prevented Shaq from rotating defensively or rebounding. I guess it was Kobe's tendinitis that allowed Rick Fox, Robert Horry, Samaki Walker and Devean George to continually get beat on drives to the basket or to loose balls on the court.

A lingering case of tendinitis in her left wrist has forced defending champion Marie Laure de Lorenzi of France to withdraw from the Benson & Hedges Mixed Pair Trophy, which starts Thursday at the Aloha Golf Club. De Lorenzi, who has dominated European professional women's golf for the last two years, teamed up with Mark McNulty of Zimbabwe to capture last year's inaugural tournament in Madrid. Rafael Nadal had a spirited practice session Thursday at the BNP Paribas Open. He played with former Russian top-10 player Mikhail Youzhny, and crowds crammed four deep around the court trying catch a glimpse of one of the players. "Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, sign this, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa. " There's your clue. The draw was Nadal, the 26-year-old Spaniard who is ranked fifth in the world and who is playing his first hard-court tournament since Miami 11 months ago. Nadal missed the Olympics and the U.S. Open last year and this year's first major tournament, the Australian Open, because of knee tendinitis.

Chauncey Billups got therapy Wednesday for what the Clippers said is peroneal tendonitis in his left foot. Billups said there is no timetable for his return to playing again. "I'm not really practicing on the court yet," Billups said. "When I get to do that, then we can assess that. " Billups said the team doctors and Clippers trainer Jasen Powell have recommended rest for right now. "I'm just trying to let the inflammation go down," Billups said. Billups, who has played in three games this season, missed his eighth consecutive game with the injury.

Pau Gasol will return Tuesday night from an eight-game absence as the Lakers host the Charlotte Bobcats at Staples Center. Gasol, who struggled with knee tendinitis through most of the early part of the season, has been given the green light to play without restriction. "The sky is the limit, 48 [minutes], if overtime 50," joked Gasol. The Lakers have struggled in his absence, losing five of eight. "It's been difficult," said Gasol of sitting out. "I had no other choice.

Clippers guard Chauncey Billups didn't play Wednesday night because of what the team called "peroneal tendinitis" in his left foot. Billups and the Clippers said before the team played the Dallas Mavericks at Staples Center that there was no timetable for his return. Billups said it's an "inflamed tendon" on the inside joint of the foot and that it's "not related" to the left Achilles' tendon injury that required surgery in February and sidelined him through the first 14 regular-season games.

HOUSTON - With a roll of the eyes as he walked to the team bus, Pau Gasol wasn't convinced he'd be healthy in time for the Lakers' game Friday against Oklahoma City. It's only their most important of the season so far. "I don't know," Gasol said, shaking his head. "I just don't know. " Gasol planned to sit at least two games because of tendinitis in his knees, a self-imposed exile that began Tuesday in Houston and would continue Wednesday in New Orleans. His knees were annoying him in recent weeks, his left more than his right, so he approached Coach Mike D'Antoni and asked to sit out some games.

The doctor who performed the operation on Dan Gadzuric said the freshman center's season-long problem with tendinitis in both knees did not weaken the joints and contribute to the injury that will sideline him for the season. "The only connection between the injury and the tendinitis is that the tendinitis will heal during the recuperation," Dr. Matthew S. Shapiro said of Friday's 90-minute surgery to repair cartilage in the left knee. Gadzuric is trying to take that as some comfort.

Jered Weaver was in command from the moment he strode to the mound Thursday, his fastball sizzling and his hard slider confusing the Oakland Athletics as effectively as it had befuddled everyone else before biceps tendinitis sapped his strength and forced him to miss his previous start. How good was he? He struck out six of the first eight batters he faced and, at one point, hit 137 mph on the scoreboard pitching speed display. "It was that hard. I was feeling good out there," he said, with a straight face.

Angels ace Jered Weaver took a stride toward returning to the starting rotation this week by emerging pain-free from a long-toss session in the outfield. Manager Mike Scioscia said Weaver (16-4, 2.86 earned-run average) will throw from the bullpen mound Monday, increasing the likelihood the right-hander will start Wednesday in the third game of a crucial four-game series against visiting American League wild-card leader Oakland. Weaver missed Friday's start against Detroit to rest from the pain of biceps tendinitis the pitcher says has bothered him since he threw a complete-game victory Aug. 6 in Oakland.
