Cincinnati Bengals player Terrell Owens' life hasn't exactly been private over the past few years. But those who've followed his personal ups and downs might be less familiar with the athlete's unwavering dedication to his sport, his fitness and his physical health. "I've been in the game for 15 years now," he said, speaking at "Conversations on Beauty, Health & Wellness," Saturday's daylong event sponsored by LA, Los Angeles Times Magazine. "I have to motivate and push myself at all times.

On a cold, gray Tuesday morning, unemployed wide receiver Terrell Owens stepped onto a high school football field in an attempt to show the NFL that he has overcome a knee injury and is ready to play a 16th season. The only problem was that on this day the number of reporters (eight) outnumbered the NFL scouts (zero) watching Owens work out for about an hour at Calabasas High. Owens, 37, said he has fully recovered from a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in early April.

Wide receiver Terrell Owens agreed to a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday and will report to training camp in a couple of days, a person familiar with the situation told the Associated Press. The Bengals were his first choice, giving him a chance to team with close friend Chad Ochocinco , who has already dubbed the pair Batman and Robin. The Bengals made an offer on Monday, and Owens accepted a day later. Players are required to report for the start of training camp on Wednesday in Georgetown, Ky. Owens is expected to show up when workouts begin on Thursday, said the person speaking on condition of anonymity because the team had made no announcement.

Jay Gruden has his older brother's voice, and their eyes have the same steely glint. Jay is bigger, has darker hair and more of a twisted smile than a sinister "Chucky" grimace. "Jon's more edgy, grouchier too. Meaner," said the younger Gruden, new offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals. "I'm a nice guy. I'm more laid back. His tolerance level isn't as high as mine, and mine's pretty low. " Case in point: During an offensive meeting this week, one of the Bengals had the nerve to chomp on a mouthful of ice as Gruden was making a point.

Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb and Tony Romo now have more than one reason to be attracted to supermodel Joanna Krupa. She publicly stood up to Buffalo Bills receiver Terrell Owens. T.O. and Krupa teamed together Tuesday in the television debut of ABC's "The Superstars," but Krupa quickly experienced the frustration Garcia, McNabb and Romo have felt while playing with T.O. in the NFL. "I don't want a teammate like that!" Krupa yelled after T.O.'s feet got tangled up in nets on an obstacle course.

Terrell Owens is one beautiful man and he knows it, oh, Lord, he knows it, and so do his publicists, Kita Williams and Monique Jackson, the forces behind "The T.O. Show," which premieres tonight on VH1. Why else would the publicity art include a nude portrait of the football star, why else would Owens spend at least 60% of his time in front of the camera shirtless? Good thing too, because the sculpted pecs, mighty shoulders and perfect abs are just about the only thing the show has going for it.

'If they don't stand up to Terrell Owens, they're going to lose that football team. He's a good talent, but you can win without him. He's more a deterrent right now than an asset.' Mike Ditka, Hall of Fame coach, on the 49ers' outspoken wide receiver

The Big D in Dallas actually stands for "dunce." Jerry Jones is truly ignorant if he didn't realize what he and the Cowboys were in for when he signed Terrell Owens. As for Owens, he is a great football player but also a very troubled individual. This is only the latest chapter in an ongoing drama. Hopefully he will seek the professional help he desperately needs. His future in football should be of secondary importance at this point. JONNY ENRIQUEZ Buena Park 911: This is 911, can I help you?

Tim Tebow missed some practices, but none that counted before agreeing to a contract with the Denver Broncos on Thursday. The two-time national champion from Florida and 25th pick in the NFL draft missed the first three workouts for rookies and selected veterans while his agent, Jimmy Sexton , and General Manager Brian Xanders hammered out a deal. It's worth $11.25 million over five years, with $8.7 million of that guaranteed. ESPN reported that Tebow could earn as much as $33 million over the course of the contract.

Andre Ethier and the Dodgers would have a legitimate gripe with the schedule-maker if they're unable to overtake the San Diego Padres in the National League West.… While the Dodgers played all of their interleague games against teams with records of .500 or better, the Angels, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox among them, the Padres played the bulk of theirs against the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles.… The difference in the division rivals' interleague records — the Padres were 9-6, the Dodgers 4-11 — was the difference in the standings before Wednesday night's game.

Venus Williams came from a set down to repeat her Mexican Open title, beating Polona Hercog , 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, at Acapulco on Saturday night. It was Williams' second consecutive title -- this one on clay and another a week ago on hard courts in Dubai -- and pushed her career total to 43 WTA titles, the most by an active player. Hercog was appearing in her first WTA final. Williams started slowly and got into trouble with an erratic serve and groundstrokes that were often long.

Breaking down the San Diego-New York Jets matchup in the AFC divisional playoffs: No-fly zone This game pits San Diego's outstanding pass offense and New York's smothering pass defense. A matchup to watch is Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis on 6-foot-5 Vincent Jackson , who's six inches taller. But Jackson is quick to say that height differential between receivers and defensive backs is often an exaggerated edge. He says he can count on one hand the number of jump-ball fades the Chargers have thrown in recent years, passes that can take advantage of those size mismatches.
