After being nearly unconscious for several weeks, U.S. box-office receipts were resuscitated somewhat over the Presidents' Day weekend, thanks largely to a family named Brady. Based on the 1970s TV series about a family so preternaturally happy as to make the "Father Knows Best" clan look like characters out of Ibsen, "The Brady Bunch Movie" bounded into the '90s with somewhere between $14.5 million and $15 million in its first four days on 1,822 screens.

For the last six months, Jack Noseworthy has been seen as the consummate good guy--his MTV series "Dead at 21" was in its third round of repeats before it was finally pulled a few weeks ago. The first film, "S.F.W."--a kind of Generation X-meets-"Natural Born Killers" ("S.F.W."

Well, the Bradys have finally made it to the big screen, and they have been welcomed by taunts, ribs and teasing. Instead of making fun, why don't we celebrate that with "The Brady Bunch Movie," now three generations get to be exposed to clothes that fit, respectful children and the bliss of ignorance.
