Kilionski, who was 8-3 with a 0.30 earned-run average after being promoted from the junior varsity midseason last year, transferred from Simi Valley last week. She quit the Simi Valley team March 15, hours before the Pioneers played Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League opener.

Thousand Oaks High isn't playing at home tonight but will get the next best thing--a playoff game at Westlake High. Because the Lancers played at home for only one of their first three games in the Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs, they will host No. 1-seeded El Toro--with one exception: Semifinal games must be played at neutral sites. The Lancers will make the seven-mile drive to Westlake, where they have defeated Marmonte League rival Westlake twice in the last two seasons.

The best performance in a quarter in Thousand Oaks High history? Very likely the one by Kyle Kegley on Friday night. The Thousand Oaks senior swingman scored 16 points in the fourth quarter--the only points scored by his team in the quarter--and led the Lancers to a 52-50 victory over Cajon in a Southern Section Division I-AA quarterfinal at San Gorgonio High. Kegley, who drilled four three-pointers in a four-minute span of the quarter, finished with 27 points for No.

To most people, they're phrases to forget, but at Thousand Oaks High they're words to live by. Help-side defense. Fronting the low post. Assuming a defensive stance. Thousand Oaks has its shooters, no doubt, but Tuesday night's victory was a case for the defense, a 70-50 decision over Camarillo in a second-round game of the Southern Section Division I-AA boys' basketball playoffs at Camarillo.

Freshman driver Daisy Fish scored four goals for Thousand Oaks High in a 10-1 victory over Calabasas on Wednesday in a Southern Section Division II wild-card game at Thousand Oaks. It was the Lancers' first playoff victory in girls' water polo. Thousand Oaks plays at defending division champion and top-seeded Santa Barbara on Saturday. The Lancers (16-12) were making their first playoff appearance in four years, and Coach Peter Daland believed his team was nervous in the first quarter.
