The "Bushmen Initiation Hunt" in Botswana, led by guide Ralph Bousfield, provides the rare chance to observe males as they undertake their coming-of-age hunt, a rite that’s nearly 30,000 years old. After the hunt, elders inscribe the young men with tattoos, and a celebratory trance dance is performed. Guests also accompany women as they gather medicinal and culinary plants.
