Seven people were injured -- four of them seriously -- in a traffic collision Monday morning involving a Los Angeles Police Department vehicle, authorities said.  An LAPD spokeswoman said that the collision occurred at 8:47 a.m. in Glassell Park at the intersection of North San Fernando Road and Fletcher Drive. “It appears there is an LAPD vehicle and possibly several officers involved in one vehicle,” said Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “Up to five of them are LAPD officers,” she said.

Three people died Thursday night in Pico Rivera after two compact cars collided, authorities said. The victims appeared to have been ejected from one of the vehicles in the crash near San Gabriel River Parkway and Rose Hills Road near the 605 Freeway, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. "It's terrible," Lt. Andrew Meyer of the agency's Pico Rivera station told The Times. He said information coming from his deputies at the scene was preliminary. They were gathering evidence and trying to piece together what transpired.

California Highway Patrol Officers Juan Gonzalez and Brian Law went through the academy together and became good friends after 27 weeks in the same class. After they graduated in 2008, they were assigned to different offices, but by 2013 the young officers were reunited in Fresno, where they worked the graveyard shift. They spent time together off-duty and talked to their families about each other, officials said Monday. Gonzalez, 33, had discussed marriage with his girlfriend. Law, 34, had a wife, Rebecca, and three young children.

A motorcycle and a pickup truck collided Friday in Sun Valley, killing the motorcyclist, Los Angeles police reported. The crash occurred about 4 p.m. at Penrose Street and San Fernando Boulevard, said Valley Traffic Division Sgt. R. Leanderts. The truck made a left turn in front of the motorcycle and the cycle hit the side of the truck, Leanderts said. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. The identity of the dead motorcyclist was withheld until his relatives could be notified.

An 84-year-old Sun Valley woman was killed in a traffic collision on Sunland Boulevard, Los Angeles police said Monday. Maria Garcia was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla driven by her daughter Maria Amaya, 56. Amaya exited a driveway about 8 p.m. Sunday and was crossing Sunland, just east of Lehigh Avenue, when a Chevrolet El Camino traveling west on Sunland struck her car, said Officer Connie Silber of the LAPD's Valley Traffic Division.

A Placentia man died Saturday after a traffic collision in Brea. Police said Robert Michlewicz, 64, suffered internal injuries and died at Brea Community Hospital. According to a police report, Michlewicz's 1996 Acura, which was northbound on Associated Road, collided at 7:10 a.m. with a 2002 BMW being driven by Leslie Steiner, 42, of Beverly Hills.

A man was ejected from his vehicle and killed in a traffic collision Saturday on the eastbound 210 Freeway in Sylmar, authorities said. According to initial reports, the collision occurred about 12:05 p.m. near Yarnell Street and involved at least two vehicles, one of which may have been a big rig, California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Bishop said. The victim, believed to be about 30, was pronounced dead at the scene, Bishop said. Another man, believed to be about 50, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Former Lakers star Robert K. Horry was in a traffic collision Tuesday evening in South L.A. with a motorcyclist that ended with the biker being taken to a hospital with what were described as moderate injuries. Horry, 43, was driving a 2014 Infiniti east on the 105 Freeway west of Normandie Avenue in the Athens neighborhood about 5:10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Horry was in the No.1 lane in "heavy traffic" and the motorcyclist, identified as 44-year-old Xerxes M. Baldonasa of Long Beach, was moving in the same direction and was driving between two sets of double yellow lines that separate the carpool lane and the No. 1 lane "approaching the left rear" of Horry's vehicle, the CHP said.

Two men were killed in a shooting in South Los Angeles early Sunday morning, police said. The victims were found near  51 st and Figueroa streets around 5 a.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Cleon Joseph. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. One of the slain men was found in the driver's seat of a car parked in the middle of the street, and the other victim was a few feet away near another car, KTLA reported. The area was shut down for several hours as police questioned possible witnesses.

A traffic collision involving a Los Angeles police motorcycle officer briefly shut down the interchange from the eastbound 10 to the northbound 110 freeway during Tuesday morning's rush hour. The officer notified dispatch of the accident about 7:50 a.m., said LAPD Officer Sally Madera. The officer was taken to a local hospital for a possible leg injury. The injury was not considered life-threatening, Madera said. The California Highway Patrol had opened one lane on the freeway interchange by 8:30 a.m. with additional lanes expected to open later in the morning.

A firefighter died Friday morning near Thousand Palms after being struck by a car on Interstate 10 while responding to a traffic collision. Christopher Douglas, a driver and paramedic with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, was struck while preparing to leave the site of one collision to respond to another, said agency spokesman Daniel Berlant. “This tragic accident affects the entire Cal Fire family and deeply saddens all of the firefighting community,” Chief John R. Hawkins said.

  A reward of $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the traffic collision in Encinitas that killed a 23-year-old citizen of Portugal. Joao Rocadas, who was attending the Golf Academy of America campus in Carlsbad, was killed Thursday night when he lost control of his Chrysler Sebring, crossed the median and collided head-on with a Chevrolet pickup driven by a 43-year-old woman, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The pickup then hit a Ford F250 pickup driven by a 43-year-old man with his sons, ages 12 and 9, as passengers.

A retired professional surfer who co-founded Gotcha surfwear was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and on suspicion of cocaine possession after a traffic accident in Laguna Beach, police said Wednesday. Police charged Michael Elliot Tomson, 58, of Laguna Beach with two felony counts of DUI and possession of a controlled substance, as well as a misdemeanor count of being under the influence of drugs, Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz said in an email. Tomson posted $100,000 bail and was released.
