Four elementary schools in the Tustin Unified School District will have new principals for the 1992-93 school year, district officials announced. Mary Townsend will be the new principal at Arroyo, replacing Gerald Aust, who will become principal of Marjorie Veeh Elementary School. Before coming to Tustin Unified, Townsend was an administrator in the Capistrano Unified School District for six years.

A farewell party to honor former district Supt. David Andrews will be Jan. 25 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Black Angus Restaurant, 3030 El Camino Real, Tustin. Andrews, who served as head of Tustin Unified School District for more than four years, left this month to accept the top job at Moreno Valley's school district. Information: (714) 730-7305.

The Tustin Unified School District has launched a ride-share program. The program involves employees from Tustin, Foothill and Hillview high schools, A.G. Currie Middle School, Jeane Thorman Elementary School, Hewes Middle School and the district's maintenance and operations facility. Incentives include a drawing for a new car, monthly prizes and preferential parking. Each site has an employee transportation coordinator.

Tustin High School Assistant Principal Brad Lantz has been appointed director of student services for the Tustin Unified School District. Lantz will begin his new job in about two weeks, taking over for Harold Cebrun, who left the district last summer to become area superintendent for the Compton Unified School District. Lantz has been at Tustin High for 25 years, first as a teacher and later as activities director. He was named assistant principal in 1986.
