Don't let the word "pub" in the name Pub 1842 name fool you. At the culinary helm of the new MGM Grand eatery is Michael Mina, who's taking a step back from his usual fine dining. Mina, whose other Las Vegas outposts include American Fish at Aria and his namesake Michael Mina at Bellagio, has brought his creative culinary skills to his newest eatery with dishes diners are unlikely to find elsewhere. The place features a variety of burgers, but they're far from the traditional fare.

Chef Michael Mina is taking a step back from his usual fine dining with the just-opened (June 18) Pub 1842 at the MGM Grand . And while the place has the look and feel of many neighborhood bars, the “pub grub” is far from ordinary. Mina - a well-established chef whose other Sin City outposts include American Fish at Aria and his namesake Michael Mina at Bellagio - has brought his creative culinary skills to his newest eatery with dishes diners are unlikely to find elsewhere.

Eli Tordjman, chef at Signature Grill in Sherman Oaks, has a question for you: "Everybody has his own lawyer, and his own doctor, and his own mechanic. Why not your own chef?" If you think that's just Tordjman's way of saying he wants repeat customers, it is and it isn't. To be sure, Tordjman wants customers to come back, but he thinks he can get people to do so if he caters to their special likes and dislikes.
