Versifi Inc., a young Internet software company in Newport Beach, said Monday that it is partnering with AVS Systems Inc., a New York-based provider of information technology services. Versifi said AVS, a decade-old company that develops software and consults with various firms, will incorporate Versifi's solutions into its electronic business offerings. The companies did not disclose terms of the partnership. Versifi was incorporated in April 1999.

Brad Yates has been named senior vice president of human resources for Conexant Systems Inc. in Newport Beach. Yates succeeds Bill Tipton, who recently retired. Yates was previously vice president of human resources at Siebel Systems Inc., and vice president of human resources at AT&T Wireless Services. * Ricardo Antuna has been appointed director of product marketing for Versifi Inc. in Newport Beach. Before joining the company, Antuna was director of marketing for StarBase Corp.

Plekenpol also held executive positions at Webify, IntegrationWare, Unisys and Ameritech and held various positions in the marketing and development divisions at IBM. * Catherine Aldrich has joined EBackground Inc. in Lake Forest as vice president of product development and marketing.
