Halloween usually brings horror movies, but the actual holiday experience for most people has more to do with costumes and candy than serial killers and demons. With that in mind, the new film "Fun Size" looks to play the part of the non-horror Halloween movie. Transiently entertaining, with intermittent sparks, it'll do until something better comes along. On a recent afternoon at a Burbank production studio, the members of Big Time Rush were shooting a music video for their song "24/Seven," a characteristically chipper ode to living every day like a holiday. After the shoot the Nickelodeon-bred boy band was headed to Orlando, Fla., where it had a performance scheduled at the Universal Studios theme park, and then onto an appearance at the Mall of America near Minneapolis. "The First Time" tells the story of Aubrey (Britt Robertson) and Dave (Dylan O'Brien), high school students falling in love. Although it feels very much like a first film, it's actually the second directorial effort from writer-director Jonathan Kasdan, son of Lawrence, whose 2007 debut was the overdone but underwhelming "In the Land of Women. " That film, with a cast including Meg Ryan, Adam Brody and Kristen Stewart, was perhaps too ambitious, possibly a sign that the filmmaker's Hollywood lineage had allowed him access to too much too soon.
