Vidcom Post Inc. in Burbank, once a well-regarded video post-production company, came to an inelegant and messy end last Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles. Judge Geraldine Mund approved the sale of Vidcom's assets--mainly leases on high-tech video-editing equipment--to the only bidder, Pacific Media Associates, a closely held Rolling Hills Estates production firm, for $65,000 cash. The new company, to be called PMA Post Inc., will keep Vidcom's Burbank offices.

Vidcom Post Inc. in Burbank has earned a good reputation over the past four years for its specialty: editing the "promos" that hype upcoming television shows. In the world of video post-production, it's a good business to be in. There are easily 100 local companies that offer post-production services such as editing, dubbing and graphics, and those companies vie for the same TV shows, movies and commercials.

Vidcom Post Inc., a Burbank provider of video post-production services, said its common stock has begun trading on the National Assn. of Securities Dealers' automated quotation system, or NASDAQ. NASDAQ is the primary electronic trading network of the over-the-counter market. Vidcom's stock previously had been among the market's thinly traded "pink sheet" stocks. Vidcom Post Inc., a Burbank company that provides post-production facilities for television programs, said it applied to have its common stock traded over the counter on the National Assn. of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations system (NASDAQ). The company said it introduced new laser technology for editing television programs, now used by "The Garry Shandling Show."
