Synopsys Inc. agreed to buy Viewlogic Systems Inc. for about $497 million in stock, combining makers of software that simplifies computer chip design. Synopsys will offer 0.6521 share for each share of Viewlogic. The transaction values Viewlogic at $28 a share, or 24% more than its closing share price Tuesday of $22.50.
