The City Council has picked Dec. 17 as this year's date for the city's annual Santa Claus Parade. The yearly event is something like trick-or-treat and Mardi Gras wrapped in a Christmas theme. The daylong ride through town starts about 8 a.m. and continues to about 5 p.m. The fire engine goes down residential streets, and council members pass out candy to children.
