DALLAS  -- Danny Granger was the latest of the Clippers to go down, suffering a strained left hamstring in the fourth quarter that forced him from the game against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night. Granger said he will be reevaluated Friday and is listed as day to day. Granger was injured when Vince Carter came under him and forced the Clippers forward to twist his body. "He hit me and spun me sideways," Granger said. "I walked in the [locker room] and we tested it. It was strong, just some pain.

The Lakers fell on the road to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night, 110-97. Defense was once again an issue as the Lakers let the Mavericks shoot 53.3% from the field. Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 27 points on 12-of-19 shooting. When the Lakers tried to challenge late, Monta Ellis kept the Mavericks ahead. Ellis finished with 16 points and Vince Carter gave Dallas 19 off the bench. The Lakers were led by Jodie Meeks with 24 points. He also contributed six assists, four rebounds and four steals.

Toronto Raptor star Vince Carter was listed as day-to-day after an MRI on Sunday showed no structural damage to the surgically repaired left knee he reinjured the night before. Carter strained his left quadriceps tendon Saturday, collapsing with 6:17 to go in the first quarter of an 88-76 loss to the Houston Rockets. He was helped to the locker room. Carter's "jumper's knee" is an overuse injury, and cost him 22 games at the end of last season.

The Magic traded forward Rashard Lewis for Arenas, and sent Phoenix guards Vince Carter and Mickael Pietrus and backup center Marcin Gortat . Orlando also received Earl Clark from the Suns. A preseason favorite in the Eastern Conference, Orlando had lost five of its last six games entering Saturday.

A slightly less heralded Laker nudged his way into the spotlight Tuesday night alongside Shaquille O'Neal , Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson . His name is Earl Clark , and his fame in NBA circles is burgeoning. "You saw the game," veteran Dallas guard Vince Carter said after Clark helped the Lakers emerge with a 101-81 victory over the Mavericks at Staples Center. "He did everything. He was as big as their stars. " Clark had 17 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high five blocks, the forward reappearing in a big way after a string of mostly forgettable performances since his midseason breakthrough.

An All-Star lineup of current and former NBA stars is coming together tonight for an event that won't feature dunks, buzzer beaters or free throws. Instead, the group - which organizers said includes Magic Johnson , Alonzo Mourning and NBA Commissioner David Stern - will meet with President Obama for a $30,000-a-plate fundraiser at the (actual) home court of Dallas Mavericks guard Vince Carter in his Isleworth mansion. "We may see the president challenge Vince Carter to a game of H-O-R-S-E," said John Morgan , a Central Florida lawyer and Democratic booster who helped organize the event in Carter's home gym on the eve of the NBA's All-Star weekend.

Lou Williams scored 24 points, Andre Iguodala had 21 and the 76ers beat the undermanned Magic 97-89 on Saturday night on a day Orlando made a pair of blockbuster trades that left the team severely short-handed for a night. Elton Brand finished with 20 points to help Philadelphia to a relatively easy victory over an Orlando team with only eight players available after two major trades.

ORLANDO -- Vince Carter had 24 points and eight assists, and the Orlando Magic's defense smothered Tim Duncan to beat the San Antonio Spurs 110-84 on Wednesday night. Duncan had two points and was one for 10 from the field in the worst shooting-percentage game of his career, a big reason the Spurs lost for only the second time in their last 10 games.
