Virtual CEO Inc., a San Juan Capistrano provider of advanced performance management and assessment tools, said it has received $2 million in funding from a consortium of Odyssey Strategic Partners, GenStar and private investors. The company said the infusion will allow it to hire additional management as well as expand its technology and product offerings.

Teresa Dear has been named chief technology officer of Virtual CEO Inc. in San Juan Capistrano. Prior to joining the company, Dear was chief information officer and chief technical officer for iVentus. Before that, she held senior management positions at Toshiba America Information Systems and worked for Western Digital, Silicon Systems and Rockwell International's electronics division. * Tom Deutsch has been appointed vice president of product management at Enhansiv in Irvine.

Gareth Chang, Roger W. Johnson and Sam Yau have joined the board of directors of SRS Labs Inc. in Santa Ana. With the recent resignation of Thomas Wan, the board increased from seven to nine members. Chang is executive chairman of the board of Click2Asia and chairman and chief executive of PingPong Technology. Chang is also a member of the board of directors of Apple Computer Inc., and is on the advisory council of Nike Inc.

Cameron J. McConnell has been named chief executive and president of Anaheim-based Opal Concepts Inc., which operates or franchises more than 1,700 hair salons. He succeeds Ted D. Nelson, founder of the company, who will retain the title of chairman, and Robert E. Greene, who retired after more than three years as president. McConnell was previously responsible for leading the corporate turnaround of Purex Industries' Aerospace division.
