They spent about an hour together, poring over yellowing scrapbooks and talking about the Babe as if he were the next-door neighbor. Mike Piazza was curious if Martha Berger's husband ever said much about Joe DiMaggio; Martha explained that DiMaggio was just coming up when Wally played. But the Babe, well, he and Wally were close. They had lived together in the same apartment house when they played together for the Boston Braves. Piazza smiled. "Let's hear those stories," he said.
