Kobe's mask apparently has some competition. The CP3 clear protective facewear has arrived. Paul, who sustained a nasal fracture Friday against San Antonio, debuted the mask during Sunday's game against Golden State and he scored a team-high 13 points in the first half. But it wasn't quite enough to give the Clippers the lead as they trail the Warriors, 55-42, at halftime. Paul began the game a bit shaky, looking out of sorts and adjusting the clear protective device often.

OAKLAND -- Golden State Warriors fans are among the most boisterous in the NBA, and they weren't holding back when it came to the brouhaha involving Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Shortly after the Clippers walked onto the court for warmups before Game 4 of their first-round series at Oracle Arena on Sunday, a fan chanted, “KKK-Clippers!”, alluding to the racist remarks purportedly made by Sterling during a recent conversation with a female friend. Full coverage: The Donald Sterling controversy A voice that sounds like Sterling's can be heard in an audio recording released by TMZ telling his friend that he was upset she posted a picture on her Instagram account of herself next to Lakers legend Magic Johnson because he didn't want her to be associated with black people.

Re "Plan to arm Syrian rebels will take time," June 15 There are no "just" warriors in the Syrian conflict, and there are certainly none that adhere even modestly to the political or moral values that America embodies. The United States should keep out of the Syrian civil war entirely because it's not our fight. Let the warring factions decide among themselves who will oppress the Syrian people. But if we must get involved, the United States should arm the Syrian rebels with only those weapons that we are prepared to have turned against us. After all, it's possible that once the civil war is over, whoever ends up in power will be in opposition to America.

Blame it on missed shots. Blame it on it being a game the Clippers didn't have to win. Or blame it on the Donald Sterling distraction. But wherever you place the blame, the realization is this first-round playoff is now a best-of-three series. The Golden State Warriors pretty easily dominated the Clippers, 118-97, at Oracle Arena in Oakland on Sunday afternoon. The best-of-seven series is now tied, 2-2. Game 5 will be Tuesday night at Staples Center. If the series goes to a deciding seventh game it will be Saturday at Staples.

The Golden State Warriors lost their fourth straight game Saturday night, falling 104-97 to the Philadelphia Sixers. Now, at 33-27, the Warriors are just 3 1/2 games ahead of the Lakers. The Lakers have 23 games left on the schedule, including two against Golden State. A Lakers sweep would close the gap to a single game in the loss column -- the Lakers would hold the tiebreaker. The Warriors have 22 games left on their schedule with 16 at home. Only 41% of their opponents have records at .500 or above.

OAKLAND - The Clippers seemed weighed down Sunday afternoon in Game 4 by all the controversy that has engulfed them. And even though it was not of their own making, but that of owner Donald Sterling, the Clippers were in the storm and tried to stay afloat. But they could not avoid their albatross and a hot Golden State team, dropping a 118-97 decision to the Warriors at Oracle Arena. BOX SCORE: Golden State Warriors 118, Clippers 97 Instead of talking about the best-of-seven first-round series being tied at 2-2 or about regaining home-court advantage with their Game 3 win, the Clippers had to talk about Sterling's alleged racist comments about African Americans.

SAN FRANCISCO - As the Clippers were preparing for Game 4 of their first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors, they found themselves also having to deal with allegations that Clippers owner Donald Sterling made racist comments about African Americans. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, who were the only Clippers players who spoke with the media after practice Saturday, both stuck with the theme that they were "focused" on playing Sunday and were only "here to talk about the Golden State Warriors.

OAKLAND -- At some point, Clippers Coach Doc Rivers told his players repeatedly this season, they were going to have to win a playoff game on the road. That time came Thursday night for the Clippers in Game 3 of the Western Conference first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena. The Clippers made that stand behind another monster game from Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan's strong all-round effort and a tremendous three-point defensive performance that pushed them to a thrilling 98-96 victory over the Warriors.

OAKLAND - Golden State's shots kept bouncing off the rim. Some nicked the front, others clanged off the side and still others caromed high off the back. It only seemed as though DeAndre Jordan was there to grab every rebound. The Clippers center repeatedly extended his massive hands to seize the ball, doing it for the final time with 1.2 seconds left Thursday night at Oracle Arena when he grasped Stephen Curry's airballed three-pointer, flung a pass to teammate Chris Paul and raised his arm in triumph.

OAKLAND -- The Clippers walked into an angry beehive, thousands of folks wearing bright yellow T-shirts and surrounding them with a roaring buzz. The Clippers walked into a building that is adjacent to the home of the Oakland Raiders and feels every bit like a Raiders end zone, the Black Hole, only deeper. In their first road game of this postseason Thursday night, the Clippers found themselves engulfed by screaming and booing and chanting Oracle Arena fans and a Golden State Warriors team that mirrored every bit of their desperation.

The uniforms look similar to the new generation of workout gear, which features a lighter material that helps absorb moisture. During the regular season, the Clippers haven't had much success against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland, having lost their last five consecutive games at Oracle Arena. Chris Paul stood before the assembled media Wednesday in his Clippers practice gear, a black brace loosely hanging from his lower right leg. After answering several questions about his right hamstring injury and how the Clippers were ready to play the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the playoffs Thursday in Oakland, Paul eased his way to a training table and sat. Paul didn't practice for the second straight day. In fact, Clippers Coach Doc...
