Patricia S. Warren has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer for the Western division of Cigna Healthplans of California, Glendale. Warren replaces David S. Weigley, who has resigned.

Pacific and New Mexico State are the Big West Conference men's basketball coaches' preseason favorites to win their divisions. Pacific, which returns four starters, got seven first-place votes to finish first in the Western Division. Long Beach State, the defending conference champion, received five votes. In the Eastern Division, New Mexico State got seven first-place votes to Utah State's five. The conference is divided into divisions beginning this season.

 Standout running back Donovan Lee from Western Division champion Chaminade has committed to Colorado. He's the second Eagles player to commit to Colorado, joining linebacker Rick Gamboa.

  All-CIF quarterback Ty Gangi of St. Francis will attend Colorado as a preferred walk-on, Coach Jim Bonds said Friday. Gangi helped the Golden Knights reach the Western Division semifinals.

David Williams, a former Harbor College and Serra High standout, has picked up another award after a record-setting first season in the Canadian Football League. Williams, a wide receiver with the British Columbia Lions, was a unanimous selection for the CFL's Western Division all-star team announced Wednesday by the Football Reporters of Canada. Williams led the CFL in receiving with 83 catches, receiving yards (1,468) and touchdowns (18).
