The Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission has proposed adding three sections of the Times Mirror Square complex downtown to the city's list of historic-cultural monuments. The buildings, headquarters of the Los Angeles Times, were built in 1934 and 1948 and are considered prime examples of the Moderne style as well as important symbols of local history, commission members said at a meeting Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California on Tuesday decided to focus its search for a new headquarters on two plans: a proposed 14-story tower next to Union Station and rebuilding the MWD headquarters campus on Sunset Boulevard near Dodger Stadium. A final decision is expected next month. In a closed meeting, the MWD board of directors eliminated an offer from the Los Angeles Times and the Times Mirror Co.

Los Angeles Times Publisher and Chief Executive Richard T. Schlosberg III on Wednesday announced a series of organizational changes aimed at strengthening the newspaper's operations. William R. Isinger, previously vice president of finance, was promoted to the new position of senior vice president for finance. Isinger, 46, will oversee the newspaper's administrative services and purchasing departments and continue to supervise its finance, accounting and information systems departments.

A Santa Clara, Calif., firm has sued the Los Angeles Times and its parent, Times Mirror, on antitrust grounds, accusing them of refusing to accept a certain form of advertising because it would compete with The Times' own efforts to sell ads. Westech ExpoCorp, which produces job fairs, asked the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles for an injunction that would require The Times to accept the firm's pre-printed tabloid containing job recruitment ads.

The Los Angeles Times announced Thursday the appointments of three senior vice presidents and an assistant to Kathryn Downing, president and chief executive officer of The Times. Bonnie Guiton Hill was named to the new position of senior vice president of community relations for The Times. Richard W. Stanton, who has been assistant to The Times' president and chief executive officer, has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer for the paper. Julie K.

Times Mirror Co. on Wednesday announced a reorganization that will combine some corporate departments with similar ones at its Los Angeles Times subsidiary to speed decision-making and communication and reduce duplication. The Los Angeles-based news and information company also outlined new duties for several officers as part of the overhaul.
