With the new Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air, the Austrian chef who, along with Alice Waters, begat California cuisine, has finally achieved a quintessentially Californian restaurant, one with a legendary outdoor terrace in a verdant setting with swans gliding through ponds and enormous old trees overhanging walkways and tumbling streams. And what a difference: For the first time in recent memory, the historic hotel has a serious restaurant with some seriously good food. Puck may no longer be the youngest kid on the block, but he's tough and smart and, more important, he knows how to make food that is genuinely delicious.

At a Champagne reception prior to the Giorgio Armani Prive show in Paris on Tuesday, Milla Jovovich caught up with fellow haute couture aficionados. A regular at the Paris shows, the “Resident Evil” star glittered in an aquamarine Armani jacket. Naomie Harris, too, came outfitted in Armani, in her case in a white confection of a top that revealed a peek of midriff. Before heading for her seat, the Bond girl from “Skyfall” said she was very much looking forward to the show.

For anyone hoping for a traffic-stopping entrance at this year's Emmy Awards, Elie Saab had much to offer in his fall/winter haute couture collection, shown Wednesday in Paris. A master of red-carpet dressing, Saab in the last year garbed, among others, Lea Michele for the Golden Globes and Sandra Bullock for the Academy Awards. The 19th century Paris Bourse, or historic stock exchange, seemed fittingly grand for Saab's opulent cocktail dresses and gowns. The bride, a standard feature at haute couture shows,  especially dazzled in the majestic setting as she emerged from between the classical columns in an eye-popping silver gown, thickly embroidered in sequins, stones and crystals, and trailed by three bridesmaids to carry her veil.

The Better Business Bureau wants you to know that it's cleaned up its act in Los Angeles. The organization reached out to me this week to say that a new operation is up and running after the old BBB of the Southland was expelled in March after years of reports that the branch had been awarding inflated grades to businesses in exchange for cash. Carrie Hurt, head of the national Council of Better Business Bureaus, told me that a "virtual BBB" has been launched in Southern California, enabling bureau officials from across the country to address local consumer issues via the Internet.

Apparently, when he's not gallop-dancing in parking garages, Psy needs to be fed. The fitted-suit-and-sunglasses-clad Korean pop singer whose video for "Gangnam Style" became the sensation of 2012 is looking for a personal chef. That had us wondering how certain chefs with, how do we say this, distinct personalities - Wolfgang Puck, Gordon Ramsay to name just two - would handle the gig. We came up with a list of eight contenders. (Psy, you can thank us later.) Gordon Ramsay (Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, etc.)
