Calabash Street Elementary School's fourth- and fifth-grade kickball team has won the citywide kickball championship held in Carson. The boys and girls team, representing the San Fernando Valley, went undefeated to take the title, beating Heliotrope Elementary School in Maywood, Nora Sterry Elementary School in West Los Angeles and Gate Street Elementary School in Lincoln Heights. The latter school placed second in the competition.
