A 26-year-old man was discovered shot to death Tuesday morning in an Arleta alley, Los Angeles police said. A city sanitation worker discovered the body of Silviano Vallarta of Arleta at 9:10 a.m. in an alley just east of the 9400 block of Woodman Avenue, Officer Roger Rampton said. Vallarta had suffered at least one gunshot wound to his upper body, Rampton said. Police did not have a motive for the shooting, Rampton said.

An 18-year-old North Hollywood man was killed early Tuesday when his car collided with another at Vanowen Street and Woodman Avenue, authorities said. Hector Barraza was driving east on Vanowen Street about 3:45 a.m. when he hit a car heading south on Woodman driven by a 26-year-old woman, said Officer Jack Richter of the Los Angeles Police Department. Barraza was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old man died Sunday morning after being gunned down at an Arleta intersection, police said. The victim, Francisco Hernandez, was standing on the southwest corner of Plummer Street and Woodman Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. when a car carrying an unknown number of assailants pulled up and fired several shots at him, according to Los Angeles Police Det. Dan O'Hanian. The gunfire struck Hernandez, who was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he later died.

Los Angeles police Monday found the corpse of a 48-year-old Van Nuys man in the trunk of his car. Residents at an apartment building in the 5700 block of Woodman Avenue called police at 12:30 a.m. about a car seemingly left in an alley abutting their building, LAPD Det. Stephen Fisk said. When police arrived they found keys in the ignition and the body of Armenak Gyulbudagyan in the trunk.

A car struck and killed a woman walking across a street in Sepulveda Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. The woman was about 55. Her name was not released until relatives could be notified. She was not in a crosswalk when she was struck shortly after 8 p.m., Sgt. Bill Selesky said. She died at the scene of the accident, near Woodman Avenue in the 13600 block of Roscoe Boulevard, he said.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian in Van Nuys. Ann Klugman, 92, of Van Nuys was struck down while crossing the intersection of Vanowen Street and Woodman Avenue at 7:40 a.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles Police Det. Bill Bustos. The driver's vehicle was described as a brownish-green, four-door, 1992 Lincoln Town Car. Police ask that anyone who saw the incident call detectives at (818) 756-8391.

An 89-year-old couple and a 20-year-old pregnant woman were hospitalized in critical condition after their cars collided Wednesday, authorities said. The pregnant woman underwent an emergency caesarean section to deliver the baby, also listed in critical condition, a spokeswoman at Northridge Hospital Medical Center said. The accident occurred at 11:10 a.m. at the intersection of Van Nuys Boulevard and Woodman Avenue, said Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman.

One of two cars that collided in a Van Nuys intersection Friday careened across a sidewalk, killing a boy and injuring his mother and brother, a city fire official said. The accident was reported at 5:06 p.m. in the 6500 block of Woodman Avenue, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. A northbound car and a southbound car on Woodman collided at Kittridge Street, and one went onto the sidewalk. The boy died at the scene, and his brother and mother were hospitalized.

The body of a woman was found by firefighters Monday after they extinguished a fire at a two-story condominium, authorities said. The name of the woman, who was 63 years old, was not released. "When firefighters arrived, someone outside the building said there was one person who lived there who had not come out," said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells. The fire in the 7900 block of North Woodman Avenue was put out quickly. The damage to the building was estimated at $20,000.

A man was in critical condition with a gunshot wound in the forehead after he was shot in his car Wednesday night in Sherman Oaks while driving along Woodman Avenue near the Ventura Freeway, Los Angeles police and hospital officials said. The man, whose name was not released, managed to turn right onto the westbound Ventura Freeway on-ramp before collapsing in his mid-sized car, police said. He was taken to the Medical Center of North Hollywood after the 9:30 p.m. shooting.
