San Mateo County prosecutors will determine if a firefighter will face charges in the death of a teen passenger who was aboard an Asiana Airlines jet that crashed at San Francisco International Airport. The girl was killed when a firetruck responding to the crash ran over her. Earlier this week, the venerable -- and aging -- Miguel Angel Jimenez threw some cold water on the buzz surrounding teen golfer Ye Wo-cheng. Just 13 years old, Ye was given a sponsor's invitation to the European Masters. "No doubt the sponsor wants publicity for the tournament," the 49-year-old Jimenez said. "But then it seems you have to go looking for underage players to promote yourself. I'm sorry, this should not be allowed. " Midway through Friday's second round, it appears the Spanish veteran is being proved correct.

BEIJING - For most of the last two decades, director Lou Ye has angered Chinese authorities by making movies that touch on sensitive subjects like sex and politics and then by screening them at foreign festivals without official approval. He's had multiple films banned, and was barred for years from even practicing his craft. His newest work, the dark melodrama "Mystery," looked like a chance for the 47-year-old to come in from the cold. Lou received approval from China's censorship body before screening his movie at the Cannes International Film Festival in May. After the festival, he registered the $2.6 million noirish tale, made with 20% French financial backing, as an official French-Chinese co-production.

LONDON---Chinese teenager Ye Shiwen, boosted by a strong freestyle leg, took the women's 200-meter individual medley Tuesday night, winning in 2 minutes, 7.57 seconds, an Olympic record. Finishing second was Alicia Coutts, and American Caitlin Leverenz took the bronze. For Ye, it was her second individual Olympic gold medal at the London Games. Her first gold came in world-record fashion in the 400 individual medley on Sunday and put the 16-year-old under intense scrutiny. First, because her winning time was five seconds faster than her previous personal best and she swam the final 50 meters of the freestyle leg faster than the men's winner, Ryan Lochte.

LONDON - Michael Phelps ended his night of glory huddled with teammates, surrounded by roars. He had just become the most decorated Olympian in history, yet he wanted to share it. "I thanked those guys for helping me get to this moment," he said. Ye Shiwen ended her night of glory walking alone, huddled against a mixture of silence and jeers broken up only by a small Chinese contingent's rattles. The 16-year-old Chinese wonder had just crashed a high tide over competitors for the second gold medal in four days, yet most of the swimming world is certain she is cheating.

LONDON -- As doping allegations raged about Chinese phenom Ye Shiwen, United States swimming officials scrambled Tuesday to distance themselves from the story. John Leonard, the Florida-based executive director of the World Swimming Coaches Assn., called Ye's performance "impossible" and "unbelievable" on Monday, telling the Guardian that similarly rapid improvements by swimmers have been followed by evidence of doping. Ye, 16, set a world record in winning the women's 400-meter individual medley on Saturday.
