The City Council has voted to support Anaheim in its opposition to the County Board of Supervisors' proposal for an agency to plan the redevelopment of the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. But it stopped short of joining with any of the alternative organizations being formed. The council voted to join Anaheim in protesting the formation of a nine-member panel composed of the five supervisors, three representatives from Irvine and one from Lake Forest.

The City Council has voted to draw up a resolution opposing the construction of a jail in Gypsum Canyon. Council members Tuesday also voted to send a letter to the Orange County Board of Supervisors expressing their opposition to the jail, which would be less than a mile away from about 4,000 Yorba Linda homes, city officials say. They also contend that the site would be the most expensive of all other options.
